I might be a bit late depending on when I get out the door and how the highways are flowing. Alarm is set for 5:30, see ya tomorrow bright and early.

Despite the fact I my primary and back-up both gave me nothing but shit, and I had to run my fat-ass around with pistols, it was a blast! We so have to go and do this again.

Cmon clownie you still kicked ass. It was fun thanks for hosting langley. Wish they cleaned up the bbs before though. My knees are killing me. Lots of bbs though for slugs or stefans.

That was a great war. Everything was great even though the staging area was kind of small and the bb's were everywhere but it was deffinatly worth the drive.

Thanks to langley for hosting

So, recap time is it? Fine.

First off, I think most of the NIC needs to have a recap on what a barrel tap is. Its not a bayonet. Its not a 'knife.' Its saving someone the pain of being shot point blank, and yourself the embarrassment of missing point black. Jabbing wildly around corners with shitty PVC barrels is not really 'tapping.' The breaker of this rule, I was sorely tempted to kick you in the junk. Sorely.

Overall, it was a fun war. I liked getting back to my close range roots. I'd like to thank the LGLF, especially Jlego, Gears, and Cranky, Langley, Mrs Langley, Bizzaro Langley, Kid Langley, Earth 1 Langley, Yelgnal, and the ever present all-Langley for hosting this war. It was a phenomenal time gentlemen, thank you for putting forward the effort and time to arrange this war.

Other then that, if you didn't go to 'lunch,' I dont care about you. Except Clownie. I still don't care, but he can keep the avatar. He's a fun target to shoot at, and a decent sense of humor to boot.

Nerf on or fuck off

Thanks to everyone for coming to the war, and for cooperating and keeping things running smoothly. Special thanks to Chops and JLego for helping run rounds, TED for keeping things moving, and BPSO for helping me with the range tests in the morning.

While I had a great time at the war, and by all indications, so did most everyone else, there were a few things that concerned me that I would like people to be mindful of next time.
  • If someone calls a hit on you, take it, especially if more than one person is saying you've been hit. I don't think we've been having any issues with people calling bogus hits lately, and you can't expect to feel or notice every valid hit. If you feel someone is calling BS hits all the time, you can absolutely let me know and I'll take care of it, but you should not be arguing over or ignoring hits during a round.
  • Don't take blind shots or blind taps. You shouldn't be taking a shot at or tapping someone who you can't see. If someone is just around the corner from you, you have to step out before you tap/shoot.
  • Barrel Taps: If you can calmly tap someone with the *side* of your barrel (ie you don't have to lunge across three feet and jab them with it or power-slide into someone barrel first) and if you have your gun loaded and primed, you may tap someone. You may not tap multiple times in a row without firing your blaster in between, even if you have a multi-shot blaster.
  • If I ask you to range test your blasters, you should range test *everything* you have that can reasonably be expected to fire near 75'. I could eat up a lot of time in the beginning of the day inspecting everyone's blasters and putting special inspection tags on them, but I don't want to waste everyone's time.

Sorry to harp on this stuff, and thanks again to everyone for being cooperative throughout the day.

If I kicked ass or not is debatable, all I care is that I had a blast and that's why I do it. Kicking as (or not) is just a bonus. Plus, I just like to bitch about my blaster. As an up, I got to test out the duel-barreled Night Finder that I made. Worked like a champ, and came in real handy in the close quarters that we were in.

I thoroughly enjoyed the war and if I had the chance to do it again, I would definitely come again. It was good to nerf with you guys again and hope to see many of you in the next few weeks or months!

Thanks for hosting. I had a blast, save for all the air ammo all over the place. Damn air soft players that don't clean up after themselves. Place could make a killing selling used ammo they sweep up, then maybe they wouldn't have to charge so much. Enjoyed the ability to test out my vortex guns on an ideal setting. Would suck testing them outside as the disks would be so taken by the wind or would be lost in the grass (why on earth would they make them green?). Hope to war with you all again. I'll have my photos up on my site by Tuesday nightish.

I loved the war, although I am still struggling to walk up and down stairs. It was definitely worth the fee and the drive. They could heat the place a bit more though - the white log home darts I made for this war just wouldn't feed in my hopper. Even my usual gray & green NJNO darts were misfeeding sometimes. I came back from one of the CTF rounds with 3 darts crammed into the plunger tube. FYI on barrel taps, you don't actually have to physically "tap" the person. Just hold it close and announce a barrel tap. They'll take the hit and appreciate not getting rammed.

As for the hit controversy, I don't call bogus hits. When it's iffy, I won't call it at all unless I see it physically make contact. Even then, if there's any reasonable doubt, we work it out and usually I just let it go. When you're holding a raider and a dart hits dead center of your drum, it obviously did not hit the nearby tire stack. From about 15ft, it makes a noise that is very distinctive and in that case, I watched it make contact. Gun hits count and it was about as clean of a gun hit as you can get. That wasn't the only time this became an issue, but it was the most memorable. The game isn't about winning, it's about having fun. Getting hit is part of the game. Some rounds you win, some rounds you lose, some rounds you don't make it to the end. The shooter shouldn't even have to "call" hits anyway, if you're hit, 75% of the time you know it outright.

Holy shit yes. I think maybe we need to get some shoulder-height mobstacles for NJNO so we're not so unused to crouching when we go to grid code.

I think I forgot to give thanks, but thanks! It was crazy fun, even if I was usually out very quickly. MY body isn't built for such close quarters. Stairs are still a challenge and ever couple steps I take are a little odd looking, but definitely worth it.
