So for those who remember my old topic, I promised an unofficial NerfHaven App.

Well, that app is now publicly available!

iPhone and iPod touch users can download it by clicking below or by searching for "NerfHaven" on the AppStore.

http://itunes.apple....81760?mt=8&ls=1

I am aware of the messed up description, I have no idea what happened there.

I will be adding more functionality in 1.1, including full iPad support, by mid-February.

Anyway, thanks for reading! Please email suggestions/comments etc to contact@reagentx.tk, as I will be able to deal with questions better that way.

Download today!

Actually, searching for "nerfhaven" returned nothing. Found it by searching "nerf haven" or "inerfhaven"

Cheers,

In the previous thread, a lot of people seemed concerned about the security of this app. This app won't be getting any official seal of approval from me, and you use it at your own risk.

To reiterate from the last thread:

Doesn't look like anything beyond a browser, rss reader for the nerf wars forum, and a twitter feed to me. I just don't really see the point.

Clearly you don't need our permission to create an app and feed from NerfHaven with it. What most people ask us about before proceding, however, is using our name. The answer is almost always "We're flattered, but no." That said, it's pretty common place for mobile apps to use the names of established websites/services/products without permission. I understand that, and I've no problem with this idea. The only thing I ask is that you note that this app is unofficial somewhere in the description. Good luck with it, and I hope it's a useful tool.

I like the warnings on the sidebar of the link. Pretty funny.

There is zero security risk, what is your issue? I'm not sure why there are rumors of any security risk.

I believe it had to do with the possibility (not that it's true) that your app is logging user names & passwords. Of course, any browser can log that stuff, but whether or not it is being sent anywhere useful (a secret email account or something) is what makes it a security risk. Again, not that you are doing that, but that is the concern; as far as I can tell.

That's true, but Apple looks through my code during the 8-day review process, and they do not approve applications using malicious code such as the example you provided. If it was Android, I'd be worried, but with Apple there isn't a problem.
