Well, I finally got my pics back from the mini-VANO we had a week or two ago. I heard some people admiring my gun in a somewhat bad picture, so here it is from a bird's eye view. For those of you that I haven't told yet, this gun is basically a Nerf conversion of the real life gun, the Colt M4-A1 "Masterkey."
The whole gun itself is just a fully-modded Splitfire and a Crossbow, but I've made the two guns fit nice and snugly (is that a word?) with one another. The result was a combination that went together like peanut butter goes with jelly - they fit fine.
I had to pretty much maul away the plastic under the mail barrel and plunger tube, being careful not to damage the tube and still provide some support and stability for the main barrel while being able to nestle the Splitfire under it. I basically epoxyed a thin layer of double-layer coardboard to the section under the barrel where I had torn away, and then epoxyed the Splitfire to that, and then smothered the seams with hotglue, then wrapped it all in Duct Tape (can you tell I wanted it to be secure?) After that, I got some electrical ties, fastened them around the gun, and epoxyed them in place. This gun is stable.
I banded it, put a barrel brace in place under the main barrel and something to support the lower "shotgun" barrels, and hot glued it in place infront of the bands, encasing the bands between the gun and the brace. The bands were wrapped in Duct Tape in some problem areas to help strengthen them and hopefully get some wear out of them.
Initial measurements say that the main barrel gets roughly 81' average, flat shot, with micros. For some odd reason, it likes the regular micros. The two shots from the Splitfire say that it gets roughly 70' on a flat shot. I didn't bother doing angled shots because the wind is killer where I live. Anyways...it's up for public scrutiny...what do you think?
