Nerf isn't all gun making. Stefans are very important if you want to shoot your guns. Could there be a directory with all the styles of stefans? I think it would be great to be able to see what stefan works best for you and your guns. I have been experimenting with stefans recently and I think this would be great. I know there are a couple (at least) styles of slugs, normal stefans (and many variants), rubber/silicon tipped darts, micro darts, taiwan darts, ect.

Not to be a douche, but it is in the general nerf section, and is stickied. Although you will have to slog through 41 pages of shit to find an occasionally good post. Captain Slug's old slug making guide is buried in there somewhere.

That's what makes the thread almost useless. Frustrating, because darts ARE so important to this hobby.

The dartsmithing thread is mostly useless. For slugs, refer to this.

Langley posted this a long time ago, I have no idea if it's still in the works.

I was confused my apologies. It is outdated anyways. The slug thread is good bt its only slugs so its not perfect.

I'm surprised I didn't see that before. Maybe its time for a new one. Thats more of a general guide, (which is useful) but maybe a new thread could include a list of dart types with links to their respective threads.

I haven't gotten around to working on that article in a while. Here are the links I saved in my notes when I was last working on it. They include the highlights from the giant clusterfuck that's stickied in GND.

http://nerfhaven.com...indpost&p=93177 Slug's Guide, Part 1
http://nerfhaven.com...77 Slug's Guide, Part 2
http://nerfhaven.com...58 Ryan's general dart-making guide
http://nerfhaven.com...showtopic=21347 Ryan's improved slug darts.

If you want to see how we did it in the old days when dinosaurs roamed the earth and foam was 5/8" in diameter, you can take a look at these:
http://web.archive.o...evolution.shtml Stefan Mohr's "Evolution of the Nerf Dart", probably the oldest dart guide anyone around here would remember, excepting The Horsemen.
http://nerfhaven.com...?showtopic=1630 the old old LGLF guide.

Edit: found Stefan's original guide: http://web.archive.o....org/darts.html

That is some good reading you linked to there Langley.

Reading those old post made me want more, I already rock megas every now and then, is there any write-ups on making these "ghost" darts I have heard of?
I know they are craft foam over FBR, I am more wondering if there is any tips on making them.

Those are also called "zero darts" if I remember correctly, cheyner. They are basically micro stefans with a strip of craft foam around them so that the max OD is 5/8". There were also things called "webby darts", which had a head of 5/8" foam and a tail of 3/8", with the weight between the two. I found a hella old page with info on both of those, as well as a other old dart types.

Thank you snakerbot, that page was pretty much what I was hoping for. Somebody is getting shot with a webby this year, that's for sure.

I should just update the damn wiki with links to these tutorials, along with generalized instructions. I said I would, so It's my own damn fault that they're not up. Tomorrow, maybe.
