[M4 Blade]

My Raider drum recently decided to give on me. The drum tensioner won't really work, and darts get caught up in the drum when advancing, and I've ruled out bad darts. Also, the drum won't take more than 30 darts now (as opposed to 35). Does anyone know any fixes for this problem or what's wrong even?

I can't put up pics because it's hard to tell what's actually wrong with it. It looks fine aside from only loading 30 rounds and having darts get jammed while firing the gun itself.

Since you cannot post pictures and don't seem to know what's actually going on inside your drum:

Search for Raider drum internals on this site and on the internet in general. Learn why the Raider drum works the way it does. From here on there are a limited number of things that could cause your drum to malfunction. Open your drum and figure out which one of these problems is causing the malfunction. Post your results here.

I really don't see the issue here. If your drum is broken, use that thing above your shoulders and fix it.

Or, offer it for sale in the Trading Forum if you can post there. If not... wait until you're out of the FNG category (and learn to post pics / take apart a CS-35 drum).

People really need to stop say "post pics for help" because sometimes a problem is simple if you read it. The problem sounds like it's coming from the tension spring that helps advance the follower. If you keep darts in your drum, that weakens the spring that advances the follower which may have caused the problem that you're having now. If it's an older drum that may be your problem. If it's a newer drum you may just be an unlucky bastard. If you have another drum lying around I would suggest swapping the followers and see if that fixes the problem. If it does then you know your problem.

Good news and bad news:

Bad news: I've heard many people having problems with the "constant-force springs" in raider drums giving out. It seems to be a common problem after use or leaving darts stored in the drum for long periods of time.

Good news: Mcmaster sells constant force springs! With a little research on your part you might be able to find a suitable replacement there:constant-force spring Just scroll down the page till you see the flat spooled metal strip and see if anything looks like it could be a match. I haven't heard of anyone replacing them before, so if you find any thing that works, be sure to post your results with part # and such.

Constant-force springs can also be found cheap in "retract-a-badges", but the size or strength may be wrong there.

Ok, so I ripped apart the drum and did a little go-to on the internals. Turns out a part that makes the drum stationary when loading and advancing isn't working right, explaining the jamming and loss of available rounds, but I don't know how to fix it. The drum works in that for the first 10 loaded rounds, the drum is stationary and a little arm retracts into the little grey part of the drum, after which the drum rotates for additional loaded rounds (which it's not totally). I can't post a pic since I'm on an iPod, but I know that at the drum end of the "little arm", there's a little plastic piece that holds the tensioner and I think it's sticking out too far. Is this descriptive enough for you all?
