I need some help picking out some mods to perform on my Longshot, since I have some constraints. Pretty much, I want to increase the range on my Longshot, but at the same time I have to use stock Nerf bullets. I will primarily use this in HVZ, but our group does not allow modified bullets, and I would like to be able to use this gun. Right now, I have the AR's removed and another spring inside of the stock one, and in a few days I will have an AR-15 spring to work with. I've looked around a bit, and some big mods I found are the Angel Breech, Bolt sled reinforcement, and the Mod collection by thedom21. On top of that, I don't know if I should replace the barrels or leave as is, since I will be firing stock darts instead of Stefans. Also, I saw where people pretty much added a spring behind the piston, called it Power Stock. That would be interesting to try, except to a lesser degree since I still want to be able to collapse the gun.

On another note, I need to get a new chamber(not allowed to post in trading yet) since mine is screwed up bad. It may be hard to see in the picture, but not only have the screw-posts been nearly destroyed, but somehow a bullet got into there and dissolved, so it is a gigantic mess and the piston can barely move.

Lastly, I need to make some molds and cast parts for a different gun. However, I am unsure of what type of mold to use, and what to cast it with so any suggestions would be appreciated. Here is a picture of what I want to cast if that helps:

For your longshot, I would suggest this mod http://nerfhaven.com...howtopic=11709. I did it to mine and it works wonders, I was running Dart Tag darts, and only a BBB (Big Bad Bow) spring. I also chopped off the front using Fenixharth's mod http://nerfhaven.com...showtopic=8815. What I did to the stock is put the usual PVC to prevent it from collapsing on my wrist when priming. The use of taggers will only limit you to I would say 5 round's per magazine as they aren't intended for use of other darts except streamlines. Also, I only had vaseline so I lubed the magazines with that to prevent the Dart Tagger heads from jamming a lot from the friction. One thing I would note, is that in the first link, the part where he dremels/cuts down the whole bolt down, I would suggest against cutting that top part off completely as it helps guide the dart into the bolt as long as you sand down the inside very well to accommodate the new angle that the tagger darts will be in, inside the magazine when it is loaded and primed. Hope this gives you an idea haha.

maybe i can get my wussy 12-year-old followers into nerfing shape. they preformed poorly at armageddon, the only good move i saw by any of them was when my brothers friend (about 11, kind of tall for his age, asian, short hair) shot VACC (when almost everyone was watching). There were only three people left in the game and VACC had just capped off the other kid, pistol style.

I like the looks of firing taggers, that means I can get some more weight on the dart without modifying it. I think right now I'm looking at that mod, AR spring, power stock, replacing the piston head with washers, and bolt reinforcement

The reason I would suggest/consider using fenixharth's carbine mod, is due to the removal of the faux barrel, when I started using taggers, the inner barrel gave me a lot of inconsistent shots out of my blaster, after removing the whole front part including that fake barrel, my shots were much more consistent and hitting human sized targets(my dorm mates) down the hall was no problem, even at ~50 feet.

If you are making a Slamfire capable Longshot, it will be necessary to cannibalize a Raider for it's slamfire mechanism. With some slight mods it could be made to function again, but realize that takes away the Raider's only real advantage. Also, from constructing the original slamfire LS, I can tell you alot of work and alterations to the shell are necessary to make this possible, though thedom21 does a good job of explaining it. Just know what you are getting into if you are attempting this.

As for suggestions on what to do with it: it depends on what you are going for, ie: ROF, range, versatility, etc. I would recommend the Slamfire mod and a moderate spring combo for a good balance, but understand the slamfire feature is essentially useless without some sort of foregrip. It's ALOT of work, and a big time investment.

Best wishes on your mods.

Boltsled reinforcement is a MUST. Try the super duper indestructo boltsled, here http://www.nerfrevol....php?f=8&t=2680 . It will serve you well. Also, If you have ARR and a spring addition, I don't think you would need anything else for an indoor war. However, integrations are always fun, especially when it's not a LSFG! Go for something with contradicting qualities, like a RF20 or something.

Very good call, I totally forgot to mention that, reinforce the crap out of that bolt sled or something. Just with some minor spring additions lead to the splitting of the corners on one of my older long shots.
http://nerfhaven.com...showtopic=15921 is another alternative to reinforcing your bolt sled. Good luck!

If you're really ambitious on the bolt sled reinforcement, and have lots of clamping tools available, then thin aluminum sheeting works perfectly along the inside of each bolt arm. Just cut to the shape/length you need, grab the JB Weld, and clamp each one down to cure. I've had no problems with that method thus far.

If you are planning to do the tagger excepting mod I would recommend to be cautious about your sanding on the barrel as I really messed up my Long Shot and was forced to single it. As for a mod suggestion I would go with Ice's brass breach because it is basically an angel breach that excepts streamlines. As for your plunger tube you could single it by doing a smaller version of this.

Aeromech: I forgot about everything that was in thedom's mod, I am just going for the easy clip removal and plunger head replacement, not the slamfire

Jilliop: I like the looks of that reinforcement versus the rod one. My gun will exclusively be used for outdoor wars, so I'm really focusing on range over anything else

spencerak: I thiink I'll go with that breech, since I would probably get better performance out of streamlines anyway

Definitely do the indestructo boltsled. I would reccomend a CPVC Breach, and either a foregrip, integrate a DTB/Barricade, or make a carbine, depending on what you want for this blaster. And if you fuck up your boltsled do either Vengeanceor if you're feeling ambitious and have all the materials, Badwrench's beast.

I forgot I had a new type of brass breech to add to that write up. I will try and add it later.

My professor just gave me access to the WaterJet machine, so that made this about a million times easier. I'm going to use that to cut pieces for the sled and cut materials for the new chamber. I'm going with the PVC chamber in one of the other mods, but to a lesser degree, the one I am working on is the same size as the stock one, but 1.5 times as long, and the piston will extend into the stock.
