Alright, this is my M6D Pistol rubberband shooting k'nex gun, with removable clips. Its based on the pistol from halo but without the 2x scope. The rubberbands are stored underneath the handle, once the last rubberband is taken out the clip falls out. Right now it can only shoot the bands 1-2ft. I need someway to increase the range if possible though. Its probably the length of the gun but anyhow, please post some suggestions or improvements. ^_^

A picture could help....

try using smaller bands to compensate for the smaller gun so they get stretched more for more power.

edit: my bad didnt even notice the link at first.

Im not quite sure how you have the whole clip fireing thing going, but just try finding sum smaller bands, or make the gun bigger and use the bands that come in your mail or newspaper?

The clip for this gun doesn't work at all, its only there for the feel. Im trying to make a clip that actually works for my assault rifle gun that i will make. Yeah smaller rubberbands, i tried looping them and it added 4 extra feet. Im gonna search my house for some smaller ones. ^_^

Ok, I know your problem. You have the front rubber band latch on the wrong way.
Put it like this:

That will dramatically help.

Vintage saves the day! *Does the Superman stance.* Up, Up, and AWAY!

Well, K-Nex is an... interesting medium. Original. You need to tape a better handle or something, because it looks ugly as sin. Make it work with Vintage's little trick and it could be an effect indoor gun that hurts like hell when it hits you in the eye and leaves a elastic mark.

Damn that Kennex would want to be braced,
Try not to stretch the bands to much, or else you'll be walking around with some plastic buried in your face for the rest of your, well, probably the next day or two...

actually built corectly, k-nex can be pretty strong. I used to have a HUGE bucket full of them. Ive made a few k-nex rubebr band guns myself. had a nifty looking side by side shotgun.

Depending on how you build the gun, K'nex is very strong. I stretched the rubber bands really tightly on the vulcan I made, and it wouldn't pop the pieces off.

No, these guns don't really hurt anyone. Rubber band guns tend to make the art of shooting rubber bands more fun, but they increase friction, and can't fire as far or hard as pulling the band across your fingers. Something about fingers makes for a smooth action for the rubber.

Yea I agree, they're not as strong as fingers. My next gun will be the shotgun from halo. This one will shoot k'nex pieces. Those really small ones that you use to connect the pieces.
You slide in several bullets, then pull back the pump handle to drop a bullet into the chamber and pull it back. The rubber band locks into place with the trigger and the release sends the piece flying. Now i have to make this.

Once i am done i'll be sure to post it in the off-topic. Thanks to cx for moving it. ^_^

Ok, Nazgul, you have to be careful when shooting K'nex pieces! I made a few guns that did this using rubberband power, and it had enough velocity to rip through corrugated cardboard.

Just make sure that you don't have too many rubberbands on the gun (like I did ^_^ ).

Isn't it easier to take pictures of the gun, than making a cad? Unless you only have a film camera and scanner...

Anyways, nice gun. Is it semi- or full-auto? I made a semi-auto that looked similar, so that's why I am asking.

Awesome stuff grinch! I need to try and make that sort of model. It shoots 8 rubberbands right? Anyways, I might reconsider the shooting knex pieces idea, even if i manage to do it ill be extra careful. ^_^

Here's the actual gun:

I can't really give exact directions, because I took some instructions I found online a while ago and modified them as I saw best.

Hey guys, I found the link to Grinch's rubber band gun:
Here it is.

Enjoy!
I might try to make it as well, though I tend to enjoy designing my own.

Ok, I made the pistol, and it sucks. The action is awesome (cock the hammer for each shot), but the darts don't shoot. The rubber band doesn't slide off the small green pegs at all. I tried a couple other possibilities, but they failed.

I might take this concept, though, and make an entirely new gun.

Well, I got into this recent craze... what a loser. Well, I pulled out my old K'Nex box and I thought I'd try my hand at engineering a trigger mech' and action assembly. I must say, I haven't lost it. My only 'beef' with K'nex is that it's not equal lengths... which angers my metric self within. I tried a complicated design, but due to the fucking restrictions of good old plastic, it didn't work for very long. I love plastic shards in my face, don't you?

Anyways, I tried again and got it to work. It was a basic trigger, only it was in reverse. You pulled it to cock the gun, and released to fire the elastic. The pull of the elastic shot itself. After that, I made an MP5 looking gun, and put the trigger in. I hated it. It was quite hard to use.

So, I finally discovered my motors in my nicely organized red box... how'd that happen? Anyways, I took it out and realized I could not only make a real trigger, it would be electric and easy to mount. So, I went the the gun frame and modified it until the motor fit and the switch sat under the gun infront of my handle. It worked by wrapping the elastic around a piece on a rod sticking out of my motor. When you flip the switch, the rod will rotate forward until the elastic is free to fire. It works wonderfully.

I can get pictures if anyone really wants to see it. I get 25 feet, accuratly too! The only problem is reloading is a bitch...

Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

It sounds like you made a single shot rubberband gun that fires using the motor.

I am starting a similar idea, only with a full auto design. Ok, maybe it won't have a fast rof (K'nex motors are so slow), but it will work so when you flip the switch, the bands start shooting.

My only 'beef' with K'nex is that it's not equal lengths... which angers my metric self within.

The math behind K'nex is that each size is the hypotenuse of the previous size. And every other size is a double of the previous.

Once you can understand this completely, the bounds of K'nex are endless. And if you are having problems with the peices falling apart, then you need to find a way to reinforce that section. K'nex has very strong connections, you just need to play each with it's strengths.

Oh, yeah, pictures would be nice.
