I recently Took out the Bullet Guard to see how My Nerf Recon would shoot. I didn't like the results. So I was going to put the Bullet guard back but I lost the spring. ( I will post a picture in a few minutes). I tried pen springs because that is what I usually use if I loose a spring of that size but there diameter were to small. So does anyone know if they even sell those type of spring dosen't have to be made for the recon. I just need a spring that will fit and do its job and I have a wire cutter in case it is too long.

1. They are not bullets, they are darts. Learn the difference.
2. Check out Lowe's, they sell an assorted pack of springs for a few dollars that probably has a spring similar to the size you need.

Don't worry so much about what other people will allow. Throw your own wars and kick your friends' asses until they all want one.

By bullet guard, do you mean the dart tooth? And as stated before, your local Home Depot or Lowes probably have one.

Talking about Mario Cart gamemode:

Sounds fun... I wonder what people that have no idea what you are doing think when they see a bunch of guys with balloons tide to themselves shooting each other with toy guns.

You could also try ace hardware, because they have a very wide variety of small springs.

I recommend gutting a pen spring.

Harbor Freight sells a package of springs of all sizes. Has extension and compression springs. By the way the reason it did not work is because that is the dart tooth, the function of which is to push the darts into the barrel.

Maybe he doesn't have access to brass. I can't find the right sizes at my Lowes.

As said before, harbor freight may have the spring you are looking for. The one close to me just had a HUGE sale.

I know it seems like I always get into trouble when I open my digital mouth, but whatever.
Just get a weak file, and adjust the dart tooth's spring peg until the spring fits, or just put the old one back in.

Ace #2 or 3 should be good. Take the dart tooth in and test fit, then cut it to the right size.

Ace # 2 is WAY too strong!
Gut a clicky pen, try to find a fatter pen so the spring is larger, then shave down the '+' under the dart tooth until it fits.
Also, firing bullets out of a Nerf gun never works. Everything here is made to shoot darts.

As I said I have not not alot of testes yet but I will be once I finish the mod.

does anyone read? i said i lost the spring and a pen spring is to small. thanks to those who helped. i ended up taking one of the springs near the trigger (not the large spring. and i would love to brass breach it but i can most likely get the correct size tube or pipe what ever you want to call it just don't have access to equipment i would need to cut it. the closest thing i have is a hack saw. and no need for the pointless remarks unless you guys are retarded you know what I mean. I fucking know there darts i just call them nerf bullets. Thats just the way I call it. If you guys going to be so Anal about it ill call them darts so you can get of my case

"but there diameter were to small"

If you adjust the DIAMETER of the spring peg, then the pen spring will fit. Maybe you should think more about what people are trying to say, and not freaking out, then trying to get defensive.

See what I mean about my digital mouth?

Don't you think thats the first thing I tried before even posting on this forum?. The problem is even if you stretch the top of the spring to fit on the peg the spring won't be able to fully collapse because the rest of the spring is to small to go over the peg. And its near impossible widening the spring to your needs without bending it until its useless. I may be new to this site but I am not new to modding. And if I was to take your advice I wouldn't be able to bring the cocking mechanism back to the front of the gun because the Dart Tooth wouldn't be able to Lower from the dart chamber because the spring under is can't go over the peg and the spring just ends up taking up space needed for the the dart tooth to lower from the dart chamber. Which makes the gun useless for firing. So don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about. If your not going to to post anything on this thread that is helpful then don't reply to this thread. And maybe I didn't want to shave because I could risk breaking the dart tooth or even if I did do It it would weaken the darth tooth which ultimate ends up with it breaking permanantly. Its not bad advice its just I trying to think about the long term infastructure of the gun. And when I said do people read I was specifically refering to the person who said "put the spring back in" And I didn't ask how to get a pen spring to fit I asked where could I get those size springs because I would rather have a bag of springs on site for all my nerf modding needs

If springs fail, try some rubberbands.

I believe that means he fixed the problem and also with the pen spring I think he may be trying to say it has too a small ID and is too short.

At the risk of overstepping my limits, I BELIEVE that what Exo was trying to say was that

If you adjust the DIAMETER of the spring peg, then the pen spring will fit.

You, Juggernaut, I BELIEVE misinterpreted this as shaving down the entirety of the dart tooth. This would be unnecessary and yes, could weaken the blaster. However, I believe that the peg which the spring goes on and which Exo is referring to (apologies for no image, couldn't find one suitable) could be trimmed without

weaken[ing] the darth tooth

, which would allow a spring of smaller diameter to be used, since the peg itself, from my basic knowledge of physics, is not under significant or even noticeable stress.

If I have misinterpreted either of your words, I'd like to apologize; I'm just trying to help clear this up. Hope this helps!

Christ, stop throwing hissy fits. You asked a question, and now you're calling everyone who replies stupid for not ASSUMING that you've already attempted their solution. Chill the fuck out, or take it somewhere else.
