I got a Nerf Wildfire, but I think that spring loaded release valve is broken because whenever I move/wiggle the gun, that part loosely moves back and forth and the gun wouldn't pump either. I haven't opened the gun yet since I'm on my break. But when I get home, I'm going to open it up to find the problem. The thing is...Is it a common problem to most Wildfires? Is it even a simple fix? Pictures will be up soon.

I bought a broken wildfire a while back and found this write up very helpful in fixing it Follow Me Without seeing internal pics, I can't really help you much more. As to difficulty I didn't find the wildfire too complex inside so I think you'll be ok.

That's got to be the understatement of the year.

Okay, If it's not pumping, then either the pump is broken in some way, or there is a leak somewhere in the gun. Wildfires have fairly weak bladders, and they'll pop easilly.
I don't know how fragile the piston (what I believe you are referring to) is, but it's not possible that something like that would break under normal circumstances.

And all in all, it's only three bucks, so it's not like you killed a Stampede or a Longshot.

Trust me, the bladder didn't burst. It actually takes a lot to pop them. However, the plastic piece that secures the bladder is VERY weak. Most wildfires break because of this. I'd be surprised if you had one intact. Don't worry, it's an easy fix. All you need is a hose clamp. The only other possible problem would be the the trigger or the check valve in the pump, but I doubt that.

Rf20's have been known to have faulty pistons on occasion, but I've never seen one on a wildfire. Usually it's just a problem straight out of the box. I can't really tell by your description whether or not there's an issue. If it really moves "loosely", then you may have a crack in the shell.

You won't really know before you open it up, from there you should be able to figure it out yourself.

I have seen the inside of my RF20, and yes, they are in actuality, simple, so long as you don't open up the piston. It's very annoying to close the piston back up, especially if you use a crappy lubricant. But that's jsut my problem.

If your wildfire's piston IS broken, then you have several options. You could put a hard tank in the gun, where the piston used to be, just like the quickblast someone (sorry someone for not remembering your name) did a while back, maybe wade through a page or so in the modifications forum, or you could lamely put a wye or an inline clip on it, possibly loose most of it's potential range but keep the automasticity.
