I have recently acquired an air compressor for airbrushing that can pump up to about 58psi. I want to use this to create an air tank mod for my magstrike. As I know nothing of these kinds of mods, what should the maximum psi be for pumping up the tank? I don't like the idea of a air tank exploding in the stock of the gun, next to my shoulder.

Either attach a stock OPRV to the tank or buy one from McMaster.

The Magstrike bladder has an OVP that kicks in when the bladder is full. I'm pretty sure it can handle more than 60 PSI so your compressor shouldn't be a problem.

I'd splice in an extra line for the compressor right next to the pump so if the battery dies you can still use the blaster normally. Doing this will make the magstrike run like normal, but the compressor does the pumping for you in between bursts. By not removing the pump you keep the OPV on the pump. The air output may be a bit much for the OPV to stay on top of, but the few Magstrike air compressor mods I've seen haven't mentioned that being an issue.

If you want to replace the rubber bladder that will be a pain and need a regulator or something of the sort. I see this as a excellent candidate for Assault and Overload mods, the latter being an upgrade to the former.

By not removing the pump you keep the OPV on the pump.

The magstrike OPRV is a blast button-like thing at the end of the bladder. When it expands, the button presses against the shell and vents air. The pump has no OPRV at all. So, putting a Tee between the pump and bladder and hooking up the AC there would be perfectly safe, just make sure you can hear the valve venting when full.

When SgNerf added a compressor to his ms he added a cut off switch behind the bladder so the pump shuts itself off when the bladder is full. So long as you trust your cut off switch to turn your pump off when the bladder is full, it doesn't matter how much psi your pump puts out.

Thanks Guys, I decided that I am just going to use a cheap $20 compressor for car tires lying around and use the airbrush compressor for painting my guns. I really like SGnerf's idea, thinking about a backpack to load it all in.
