[Ice Nine]

I finished the Chem Rifle, Mark Three.



The first of the two sections of 6" long PVC is for vinegar; the second one is for the baking soda. The endcaps come of for easy refilling.

So, you have built this already? That's pretty neat. In fact, you could measure the ingredients for the second shot into the containers while the reaction is taking place for the first shot.

Tell us how far it can shoot, and maybe, you might want to try a different barrel material.

Edit: It would be cool if you made it out of clear pvc. That way its more of a science experiment gun, where you can see the reaction take place. You could get major credit in your science class for that.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. It would be very cool, because you could test which amounts work the best.

This is DEFINATELY something that would get credit for my science class, and god knows I need it. It'll help my 107%.

Hey guys? I'm sorry. Like Vintage said, I really didn't have anything to add to the topic, and I really should have kept my big mouth shut. I really think that there are some basic problems with the system, but if you can work around them, more power to you. I'm probably going to stick to air-pressure systems, but hey, whatever floats your banana.

Congrats on making the thing work...I was pretty doubtful.

I am not trying to shoot down your idea, just asking an honest question:

Wouldn't it be simpler to just use air than have to deal with buying chemicals, carrying them around, mixing them, and cleaning out your stuff afterword? I mean if you don't clean it, it will dry up and get gunky and clogged up and stop working.

Ummmm..... He was doing this only for fun. Just as an experiment with chemical reactions. I do not believe he had any intention of using this in any nerf war, just to show off to friends and school teachers.

For my baking soda rockets what I do is take a section of toilette paper (1 ply or the cheapest stuff is the best) 3 sqaures long, and put 5 tbsp baking soda in the middle. Then I roll it up like a joint for lack of a better term, and drop it into the vineger. This allows for easy loading and a 2 second delay time before the reaction occures.
