After taking a look at hornet valves, I decided that I need to go a bit bigger. Homemade blast valve can be made, but I needed large airflow that would not be provided by a Hornet button. So we take inspiration from this:

This is a Super Soaker Quick Fill Device, or QFD. You would attach it to your hose (presumably at your standard house pressure of 30-50 psi), and stick the nose of your CPS blaster in it. That presses down the button, and allows water to flow out. In essence: IT'S A GIANT BLAST BUTTON.

Materials:
1/2" CPVC
3/4" SDR 21 PVC
3/4" PVC caps (flat ones)
1/2" PVC plug
craft foam/neoprene
adhesive/solvent weld

First, assemble the bottom as shown. A 5/8" hole was drilled in the side, for the CPVC to sit in. Further, the CPVC has been shaved to the contour of the chamber, so as to not inhibit piston movement.

The rest of the chamber: the top 1/3" to 1/2" of a cap, a 1/2" plug (outside ridges shaved down), sealing surface, and a weak spring. Enough to seal the piston, but not much more.

And fully sealed up. Once you get it moving initially, the air comes out, and it gets much easier to push in the rest of the way. Kinda like pulling a pin on a 2K.

The Difference:
-Guns shoot bullets that kill people
-Blasters shoot darts that tag people

I do not play with guns.

That's Awesome Buff, you are on a tear with these air tanks.

You and your creations were greatly missed yesterday at Vengeance 5.

Hahahaha, I just finished watching Iron Man 2 like 10 minutes ago, and my initial reaction to the pic was, "Whoa... kickass basement..". Also, I remember those "QFD"s, those were sweet. I can't wait to make one and try it out on my new homemade.

How much would one of these increase ranges on a gun such as a big salvo or hornet?

Those are already pretty efficient as is, having a tiny blast button/valve like they do stock is all that's necessary. The pilot area is tiny in diameter; a large button won't make the air come out of that tiny tubing any faster.

HOWEVER, if you're doing something homemade with a larger piston, then this really helps to dump the air faster. That's waht this is geared toward.

TL:DR, in small tanks, it's not going to improve things, but in LArge ones, it's necessary.

This is funny. I was looking at my recently acquired QFD from my Speed loader 1500 recently and thought, that would make a good blast button.... Lo and behold...

Super Soaker/Water blaster knowledge sure has it's advantages. ;)
