SPANO, also known as NO SPAM (Nerf Outing St. Paul and Minneapolis) is Minnesota's largest annual war. For all of you slackers who only show up to wars every so often, THIS is the one you must attend. This war has been held annually every year since 2006, making this one the 6th. Here is the low-down:

DATE: June 18th
TIME: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
WHERE: Highland Park
ADDRESS: Juniper Lane, St. Paul, MN 55116 (don't forget the zip code!)

The staging area is the Pagoda (the shelter seen behind the playground in street view). There is a chance that it will be taken come the war. If that is the case, we will move out to some picnic tables.

Highland has always been playable in the past, but in case we need to go somewhere else for whatever reason, this is the info:

What you need:
-Blasters. Primaries, back-up primaries, pistols, high ROF blasters for defend the core, etc.
-Darts. A lot of them. Plenty for yourself and plenty for all of your guests if you bring them. 200 is generally an adequate amount, the more the better.
-Water. It will most likely be hot and you'll be sweating like crazy. Dehydration is bad, kids.
-Friends, family, acquaintances. Any able-bodied, nerf combat capable human.
-Food. If you don't want to make a lunch run to one of the local fast food restaurants (Burger King, McDonalds, Taco Bell).
-Money. Trading and purchasing of goods will take place.
-Sun Screen.

The Rules:
-Everyone must wear eye protection. It doesn't make any sense not to.
-Unmodified Stock Darts are allowed.
-Each individual dart must be weighted with a single #6 washer or a single #8 washer. Alternative ammo is a case by case basis, ask ahead of time.
-All stefans must have standard felt tips or craft foam that is at least 2mm Thick.
-There are no blanket bans on blasters, everything goes. I reserve the right to ban anything that is deemed unsafe without question.
-Be respectful to everyone in the park.
-Follow rules, take hits, be a good sportsman.
-Pick up your garbage, deposit it in the trash containers.
-Don't bring realistic looking blasters. We have enough problems with the police and bystanders already.
-Don't bring illegal substances.

The 26th is a Sunday...Saturday the 25th is the date I really meant, my bad.

Also, since this war is a big deal I'm planning on doing as much as I can to make sure it's organized well. One thing I'm looking into is using mesh pennies/safety vests for team identification. I know this has been done at some wars in Canada in the past. I'm tired of using flagging tape. Face it, in a war of this size amidst the chaos of combat, noticing and reacting to a little ribbon tied to someone's arm is fairly unlikely. Also, when someone is out and they need to clear the area being able to easily remove their vest would prevent unwarranted hits. On eBay there is a seller who has two colors of vests for $1.72 each. If I order over 49 I get free shipping. I know we won't have 50 people at this war but it would be good to have extras or some to just give away.

Here's where you come in. All in all, it'll cost $86 for all of them. It would be nice to have some financial backing on this. $86 isn't A LOT of money, but it's a lot for one person to spend on mesh vests. If everyone could contribute just a few bucks it'd be greatly appreciated. The vests would be used for wars and wars to come. I can imagine the usage of vests could also put bystanders more at ease. Obviously, if we were doing sketchy shit we wouldn't be all organized with fluorescent safety vests on. Let me know what you all think, nothing is set in stone, of course.

Wow, I didn't realize those vests cost so much. I checked a few other places online and that seems like a decent deal though.

My only suggestion would be to see about getting reversible ones if possible, then there would only have to be half as many (although I guess free shipping would be out then, hmmm). Or if somebody is involved in school sports and could ask a coach where they get their practice jersey's.

You can order practice jersey's off of Eastbay.com and if everyone just bought their own or if you buy in bulk they might give you a deal. They are more expensive though.
