So I got the idea for this from the Nerf SG forums. Psyk came up with this mod. He used a megamissle tank and AT2K pump. I dont have either of those but I have a shotblast lying around. You could do this for the shotblast but I prefer the feel of the Tornado Strike shell.



It is pretty straight forward. I super glued the Shotblast (SB) tank to the RSCB. Im using a thickwall PETG 5/8 fpr the rear clip and 9/16 for the barrel. The 5/8 PETG is the same OD as 1/2" CPVC.

The clip end cap is inside the nerf stock. So you just pull off the stock to reload the RSCB clip.




I used a LSFG trigger and ziptied it to the release pin of the SB tank. It is not in this picture but I added a third ziptie to the front of the trigger so it stays inline with the release pin.




The SB tank is a little offset which helps save space when putting it into a shell.




I reused the SS clip to hold the pump tube in place. None of the internals are glued or set in place. The shell just snaps around it and hold everything in place. So repairing anything is easy or I could switch shells if I made a shell to take these internals. The nerf SS sight is just for cosmetics.


About 5-6 pumps fills the tank I havent range tested it yet. But it shoots across my 40 foot apt and hits the wall with energy left so I estimate about 60 feet flat with CS darts. Im sure weighted stefans will improve range.

Nice. Looks like a fast gun, and pretty light, too. I'm guessing that this one didn't have a trigger, but I'd like to see a LAMP version of this gun, just to compare. LAMPs are still pretty powerful, I have a RSCB Reactor with a ton of deadspace, but gets around 50'. That's the only reason I'm wondering. Although only 6 pumps is still pretty fast.

Yeah, I tried to put an rscb on my lamp but it just shot sparks. I think it has something to do with the bulb being broken.

On topic: Nice job bud. Is the clip just to hold darts?

I agree, the shell looks extremely comfortable. How big is that tank? Like, what tanks would it compare to in size?

From the NerfSG post, it's to keep the pump in place.

@princexbuster: Yes the SS clip shell is screwed to the body so it keeps the pump tube from being pushed further back into the empty shell. I trimmed the SS clip shell so it can hold a CS clip and it is a dart holder. I can fit 4 CS darts in my RSCB.

@utahnerf: im not that familiar with tanks. But i suppose it is similar to a missile blast tank. One interesting thing about this tanks is obviously that it is designed to push water. So there is a HUGE piston and extremely stiff spring inside the tank. The air pressure pushes the piston back and when you release the air pressure, the spring pushes the piston and helps push the air out.

One unexpected bonus, is the hole I cut in the shell to make room for the tank provides a small window and I can see the black o-ring of the piston get pushed back. So it is almost like a tank meter and I can visually confirm when it is full.

Okay this thing just screams badass. I love the shell, I defiantly see one of these in my feature once my homework lets up :/ or spring break arrives. I commend you!
