About a month ago I acquired a lanard shotgun with plans to make a improved version quadshot. After reinforcing the priming mech, rotation bar, and catch, modifying the turret, and adding padding to the plunger head everything was put back in the shell. Then the first test fire worked fine and the after that stopped rotating except by hand.

After that I went back in and tried to find the problem. My first assumption was that there was too much friction between the turret and the plunger tube. After applying different amounts of lube on the back of the turret to experiment friction I had no results. Then I striped the epoxy putty form the rotation bar thinking that it was getting in the way, and again I had no result.

After finding a new mod on youtube I wanted to try I fished the wreck out of my closet and stripped down the turret of the 9 inch barrels and tried to get the turret to rotate again, and still nothing. Then I tried rotating it without the plunger tube and it worked fine. I know that the seal isn't sticking out too far because the turret is barely touching the seal.

I've tried all this and I'm still stumped.

Help would be appreciated.

If you used craft foam/rubber to make the turret seal, it may be rubbing against the top of the rotation mech, creating uneeded friction.

I used the unneeded front part of the plunger head like everyone does.

It could be one of three things. Go through each and make sure you figure out which it is.

It could be friction, as stated by the other user, probably between the plunger seal and turret face, but other sources of friction could be present. Make sure that if the rotation arm isn't present, the turret can spin easily.

It could be mis-alignment or jamming of the precise little mechanical plastic bits. Make sure the rotation arm can move through the mech without encountering any gunk, and that everything is in the right place.

It could also be that your barrels are too heavy, causing your slip mech to engage, a design put into the turret to prevent rotation if there's too much stress on the barrels to prevent damage. What most people do to fix this is they take apart their turret and glue the mech together, so that the only thing that turns the turret is the rotation arm's movement. Keep in mind that you lose the ability to hand-rotate the barrels with this modification.

Hope this helps.

If at first you don't succeed, add more epoxy.

Wes7143, please next time actually read the post because I stated that the seal is barely touching the turret and the turret is stripped down with no barrels. In addition the turret works with no plunger tube.

As Wes stated, then MAYBE:"It could be mis-alignment or jamming of the precise little mechanical plastic bits. Make sure the rotation arm can move through the mech without encountering any gunk, and that everything is in the right place."

Don't slam him for trying to help you.

Well next time don't fuck up your gun, and then complain because of an imperfect reply giving helpful advice. I don't know your idea of "barely touching", and I also said that the turret seal might not be the source of the friction. Also, I don't know how much hot glue you used to attach your barrels, and the turret could still potentially be too heavy to move. I gave you a very general response on what could be causing the problem. Don't complain.

In my experiences with the part from the plunger head as a seal, it has ALWAYS created too much friction. I don't know how your turret is barely touching it because it was always too big for mine also. I would highly recommend using craft foam. It creates a fairly good seal with very minimal friction. I use it for all of my turret seals.

First off sorry wes I got essays due soon so Im rushing.

Second, Ive triple and quadruple checked the alinement of the rotation bar and rotation mech.

Third, Ive managed to cut down the top of plunger head piece to fit over the original seal so it didnt stick out as much.

Forth, Abyss Mods, I think it might need the craft foam because of the rubbery type of seal but the one thing i dont get is Ive tried using lube and it still didnt work

Im assuming I could pick up this craft foam at a local craft store?

If you're planning on replacing the seal anyways, you should probably check the rotation with the seal off and the plunger tube in. If it is something to do with the tube and not the seal you're going to be really frustrated when you replace it and it still doesn't work.

Just tested with the original seal, The seal wasn't touching the turret at all and it rotated but not all the way

Posted Image

This happened about 80 to 90 percent of the rotations this did not happen with out the plunger tube.

p.s. sorry or the huge pic i only have my phone camera.
