So, I go a Firefly off of Cheyner at the last Massacre, and looked at it, thinking about what I wanted to do to it. It has the possibility of being a decent indoor primary, whether through internals enhancement or replacement. The only problem is loading the darn thing.

It has a turret, why the hell not add rearloading to the thing?

Take apart you Firefly, unscrew everything like normal. There's a mod directory; you should be able to figure everything out.

I used 1/2" CPVC, in 3 5/8" lengths. I don't plan on using stock darts in this thing, so I may as well make the barrels as long as possible without interfering with the orange piece in the front. Secured with epoxy - I have a ton of the stuff, so let's be permanent.
Posted Image

Turn that turret around when it's cured, and carve out the rear for your darts.
Posted Image

Now for your shell: I went for the right side, since there's room for two slots. On the other shell half, there's only room for one, so I decided against it.
Posted Image

To the plunger tube: made a new seal by putting craft foam around the spring-loaded stock seal. Pretty simple, works for my purposes. Although I could do slightly better.
Posted Image

Finally, put the shell back together, get two half-sections of PVC, and shave/glue like so. I still need to slice a bit off the pipes, to make it easier to load (notice the plastic jutting out where the halves are uneven).
Posted Image

And that's it. I still need to add another spring; I hink a slightly cut down NF spring might be able to fit in there, but I'm open for suggestions.
Posted Image

Ranges are the average 45-55, but I only have slingshot darts on me, and Fireflys don't have the power for those stock. But once the thing's tricked out, this should be more than good for indoor wars.

EDIT: You can nest LSFG spring underneath the Firefly spring! That has been done.

Damn! You're just on a role this week aren't you?

Very creative, I love it.

I'm guessing you used a file to sand the E- Putty so it makes a nice seal on the plunger tube right? I could see that getting to an absolute mess for me. Do you have a special method for applying the Epoxy?

Nice! The firefly has gone from a 90% piece of crap to an 80% piece of crap now.

This mod will help out with those who are integrating more powerful air delivery systems into their fireflies.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Earlier this year I wanted to do this, but I didn't think I would use it. Anyway, nice job. Now I might just have to buy another one and do this, but I will actually plan on using it. Hopefully I can find a rubber washer to fit for the seal instead though.

Wow, that's simple. I am left-handed, making the right-side loading perfect. The Firefly is a decent blaster by itself, basically a more ergonomic DTG with a smaller turret.
A NF spring does not work in the PT, it's slightly too big. If you make a new PT, however...

I think it's normal epoxy, not putty. Epoxy itself is liquid and good for space-filling.

Also, this still works with stock darts. Just not as well.

Travel Cost to TRU = $2. Eliminator pack = $15. Momentum testing = 2 lost darts. Outranging Recons with your mini pistol = priceless.

Aw, only an 80% piece of crap? I was thinking more 60ish! :P

Good to know on the NF spring; I actually don't have a spare spring on me to compare w/o taking apart a NF. I'll see if I can find something, though. Or just use a spare Big Salvo tank like Kid Flash.

I'm right-handed, and I don't mind the slot placement. It's not a Doomsayer; the blaster is small enough that you can turn it whichever way you need for reloading and still have an easy time with it.

Stock darts: you could still use streamlines, but again, the CPVC is right up against the orange plastic piece that holds the turret. You need to cut the barrels down about 1/4" to maintain the ability to use other stock darts.

Oh, and yes, just regular epoxy.

EDIT: I ended up nesting a LSFG spring underneath. As soon as I make more darts (the old ones were lost due to roommates shooting each other), I can get ranges. Props to Coop; my searching brought me to one of his videos, where he made that suggestion. Range is now 60-70ft, which is probably the limit for the springer system in this blaster.

I have seen quite a few mods for the firefly that remove the orange thing in front so that you can get longer barrels, is there a reason you can't do that to this mod?

There really is no particular reason; if you wanted, you could take off the orange piece and have longer barrels. But I'm not looking for incredible ranges on the firefly itself, especially since it's going to serve as an indoor/HvZ primary. Just something with decent range/RoF balance. I could finish up my Stampede, of all things...but I'd like to be different and NOT use giant clips. Because I can

Besides, it appears there's room where the light normally is to put in a Hornet tank. So that's the current plan - have a single shot for picking people off in a normal war, but keep the rest relatively normal for close quarters settings.

Haha, thanks to all. Yeah, I'm in one of those periods where everything is coming together, in terms of free time and school meshing together. Also, there's a backlog of mods I've done and documented but haven't published, so to speak. So you'll have to excuse the relative overload of mods. :P

Not to mention successfully transitioning 'idea' into 'implementation.'

To quote Ender's Game, "At the end of it, he had lots of ideas, all of them bad." :P

I for one love to see more of your mods. Rock on, Garth!

That is awesome BuffDaddy, I might have to rip into my other one now when I get some time.
Keep up the fantastic work.
This would be pretty decent for Scano's as well, or any other war centred around portables.

Try a Rapid Fire Rifle spring. They seem to have the same strength as a NiteFinder's but with a slightly smaller outside diameter.

Great Minds think alike.

Buff: I've been contemplating doing this to my Firefly for the past few months now, and never got around to taking the risk. Thank you for taking the risk for me. Did you replace the stock turret sealer with Craft Foam donuts? That should/will increase the range quite a bit.

Yep, craft foam donuts work wonders; there's one there. I actually cut mine to fit around the stock sealer, and then hot glued everything in place. Seal is wonderful; I can plug each barrel with a finger, dry-fire, and have the plunger stop early.
