The Marshmallow Crossbow: Awesome thing with a 1 3/4" wide PT, an 8" draw, and the ability to diddle you by shooting out sugar. Let's put that sweetness to use!
Reference: Blue's thread HERE!!!
Let's open up, shall we?
Unscrew the main part of the shell. This is the trigger mech, simple enough. Unscrew the front piece, as well, to get the plunger tube by itself.
There's a gasket on the front of the tube, sealing things off when the marshmallow breech is closed. On the inside is green rubber and blue plastic for the air restrictor/ammo spacer. That has been cut and drilled out, respectively.
Stuff 1/2" PVC (only about 1 1/2" or so) in the back of a wye, and wrap in some e-tape. Then stuff 1/2" CPVC into that with a hammer, and use a hot glue dab as a dart stop to prevent any possibility of vacuum feeding into the plunger tube. Epoxy into the front of the PT, being sure that a) the plunger face will not hit the PVC/CPVC, and everything is lined up, with the wye facing upwards. Let cure for an hour or two.
Wrap the front of the wye in a bunch more etape. Put the two pieces of the front half of the shell together, threading the breech hole over the top of the wye. Put your blaster back together.
And now you have awesomeness! Getting 80s and 90s for range. I only have a 6 dart hopper on it, to keep the range up.
Sadly, these things are usually at least $25, IF not more. But if you catch it on sale, it's awesome.

Thank you for this! I've had one for about a month now, and no knowledge on modding it. Nice mod!

So, it that a true crossbow? (Such that power is provided by the arms, and not a spring?) 80 feet flat is really impressive concidering it's diminutiive size.

Quite welcome!

Yes, that's all from the plastic bow arms. Not QUITE diminuitive (with everything on, it's 3 feet long primed, and ~2 1/2 feet wide), but for what it is, I'm extremely happy.

My little brother got one of these when selling Boy Scout popcorn, so I will be doing this mod once I get my hands on some wyes. Thanks for posting this up!

I actually had just modded one of these for my cousin, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the performance. Instead of hoppering it, I had opted to re-barrel the breech with CPVC, and that turned out well. I might just need to get one of these for myself and give this a shot, though!
Nope
