About a week ago I finally got a million total upload views and 1,500 subscribers on my Nerf Youtube channel. Although I am not a partner, sometimes Youtube gives me the option to enable revenue sharing on my videos which is great, but there's something I've noticed. No matter how many views my videos seem to get, the option for revenue sharing only appears on my videos which have no music. Even when I create my own music. Even by using Youtube's selection of music tracks. So out of 40 videos, I only get revenue from 2 or 3, which earns a couple cents a day. If all of them could earn just 2 cents a day, that would be an extra $20 a month. It's like Youtube has a team of robots that sit there and listen for music in videos so they can disable the audio and revenue sharing. Does anyone know how the revenue share works? Does it just pick videos at random or is there a view count required to get it?

Selling guns through ebay has been a lot of trouble so I'm looking for other ways to build my income since losing my job almost a year ago. Paypal has so far defended me in my recent number of chargebacks, as of yesterday disputing the case of the $130 recon on my behalf. When I called a PayPal agent today, she said it could take until April to win the case, and depending on the cc company, chargebacks can occur even up to a year after a purchase. So that was disappointing news. If anyone knows how to get videos to be eligible for revenue sharing I would like to know so I might be able to earn more than 1 cent a day, thanks.

You can't use any copyrighted material in your videos. Also, photos from the internet, music that isn't 100% yours (like made in Garage Band or something), or another person's video footage cannot be used if you wish to profit from your videos unless you have written permission from the owner of the material. If you use YouTube's audio, I don't believe it's eligible for revenue sharing either. If you want to make it easy, just don't use music until you're a partner (then you can check a box saying 'music is in the video, but I have written permission to use it')

I never read anything published from YouTube to confirm the rules about revenue sharing, but I got offered revenue sharing on my videos when I hit 1-2 thousand views within a day or two of the upload time.

I bet these questions have been answered somewhere on the YouTube help forums, you may want to check there rather than on the Nerf forum. There are probably <5 partners on NH with Nerf videos (myself included), and maybe 20 that have received revenue sharing. You may not get solid answers :/

On the screen that lists all the copyright media that is not allowed in the videos, by choosing "no" for all categories the videos get enabled for revenue immediately. I once thought there was a view count that had be met before getting the revenue option, but since the option appeared at random numbers of views on different videos, it must be based on the number of views in a period of time. Today I have reached $50 in estimated earnings, but cannot receive a payout until I reach $100 earnings. That could be a long time because on a good day I might get just 25 cents. So if earning a quarter a day, it will take another 200 days before getting a payment. This would work out great for someone who has hundreds of thousands of videos all earning money everyday, but I will probably be an old man before I can get that many Nerf videos made. Which brings a question to mind, I wonder who gets the earnings for people's videos after they die?

The funds will still be sent to the same bank account assuming they're smart and have direct deposit.

If you select "no" on all of the options and you aren't truthful, YouTube could potentially take away the option of revenue sharing and there is always the chance of getting sued by the rightful owner of your material. I highly doubt they will care about your videos just because the view count is so small, but be careful.
