I have an i dea for nerf grenades. Maby like a thin, small (like 3in by 3 in) cardboard box filled with mini versons of those foam balls and a low power fire cracker (mabye a panda) and the box is sealed with the wick sticken out the box. When it explodes the little balls go everywhere. not like really small balls like the ones that come with those zebera guns, just small ones like bigger marble sized (you know the ones that are bigger than the rest) and like only 10 of um

That definately wouldn't work, the foam and the cardboard are flamable so that idea is retarded, and nerf is supposed to be air powered. Dumb idea overall.

You should think before you speak. when the fire cracker blows up it is not a rush of flames, it is a rush of powerful AIR and noise (like in pandas). I had also said that mabye a cardboard box could be used any thing else could be used too. :P NOT ALL NERF IS NOT AIR POWERD WHAT ABOUT THE SPRING LOADED ONES!

Ok. First, please correct your capitalization. Secondly, how a spring gun works is it pushes the plunger forward causing a burst of air, which pushes the dart through the barrel. In every nerf made spring gun I have seen air powers the dart. I believe there is some crap another company made with the spring as the physical force. No I have never seen it, but I'm sure it has been made.

It's kind of funny to see them arguing with the same avatar. My money is on the Calvin with dimples.

Actually though, there are some Nerf guns that don't use air pressure to propel the ammo... But they are uncommon. Ballguns, like the Ripsaw, Motorized Ballzooka, etc- or the Gyrostrike, Bungee Blaster. Also, just a bit of trivia, the little pen Nerf guns have a tiny plunger but it hits the dart rather than putting air pressure behind it. (Oh, and the darts are thinner and shorter than regular Nerf minis.) Okay I'm done typing, back to swabbing out my ears with my pencil eraser.

You might try to read the code of conduct if you haven't yet. That grenade idea sounds like it needs a little work though.

UpGraD3, Sorry i did not know what i did wrong. And instead of telling me that it needs work tell me improvements! thats sort of why i posted this! I have made one improvement. In the box there should be a shaft covering the wick and stops at the top of the panda so it still gets its blasting effect and is not affected by the shaft. The shaft is there to protect the foam balls from the flame on the wick. :P

But what happens if you drop the lit firecracker right down your shaft. That would probably teach you some respect. Couldn't resist :P

too right dave,
VortexMaster [1337 wank] maybe you should just build it, get it too work and shut up. Im not opposed to you personally, well maybe if you took the vibrator of the caps lock when you typed out your username things might have changed, but there are a lot of people here who think it just isnt nerf, there are no improvements that can be made on that, it is what it is, you can build it and hell I might even feel sorry for you when you have the PVC shaft sticking out of your eye-socket, but your not going to get much feed back around here for something so, non-nerfish....

nice try though...

Why are you guys so stupid around here with your pickey spelling and perfectness. NOBODY'S PERFECT!!!!! Doing caps lock on ever other letter is an effect that MANY people find cool. What the fuck are you talking about with the pvc, this uses no pvc. Why the hell does everything have to be nerfish, i mean everyone dosent have to conform to the same ideals that nerf does to make somthing fun. And if you guys werent so gay about spelling more people would have a good time!

Dont mind them vortex, its that time of the month -_-

Honestly, make it, be careful, and improve it yourself. Alot of people on these boards randomly say things wont work because

1) They want to be the first to do it

2) They have no idea what they're doing

or

3) They think it could be dangerous.

In your case, #3 applies here. My opninion is that you should just stay way from firecrackers in nerf. I think its nerf. I think anything used in the game of nerf is considered nerf.

You would get more reliability, range, and accuracy if you ust dalt wit air pressure, but good luck anyways!

I don't think you're allowed to post pics or links in your signature.

Most nerf grenade designs work off of a spring that phisically shoots the balls or foam out. Try taking a wide piece of pvc or other thick cardboard tube or something and fixing a spring to one closed end. Stuff it with foam and compress the spring then top it and secure it with a small piece of scotch tape. Then put a piece of duct tape over it. During the war, rip off the duct tape and throw the grenade. The impact with the ground should rack the device so much that the tape will come off, shooting off the cap and pushing out all of the foam.

You can change this simple design if you like. Try making it fixed to a timed explosion. I once almost achieved it by using string, but figure it out on your own. I think the only thing people around here don't like is when something us not reusable (ie. CO2 and firecrackers). Stick to springs, rubber bands, and air.

The fact that you wanted to put this in your sig makes it perfectly clear why I don't allow images in sigs.

Thanks all. The pandas are the ones that are tied together and make like a machine gun popping noise (they can be taken apart into singular ones) the ones i have seen are usually attached in 50's, they went for under $5 us for the 50. (hence there really not powerful.

hence, thats why there is no need to use them, hell you would use most of the power just by trying to break the cardboard

umm sorry to burst your bubble but.........I thought that nerf was about air or spring powered guns that shoot foam darts out and were used in battle for fun to test survival and skill against many others.......

It is, and if you can manage to make a working, safe grenade and hurl it at your opponents and time it so it explodes right near them, while shooting them and dodging their shots, how does that belittle and ruin the game? If he can make this safe and make it work, I don't see whats wrong with it. I don't really like the idea of firecrackers though, I sure wouldn't want one thrown at me.

Again, try to make it powered by another source like air or springs. Then tell us how it works out. If you can't be persuaded to abandon this idea, build it already and tell us how it performs.
