Today, Brokensvt and myself will be doing a write-up to build your very own Big Blast with integrated Airtech 2000, with a shared stock pump.

Materials needed.
1. 3/4" to 1/2" PVC slip fitting
2. 1/2” PVC coupler
3. Polycarbonate in varying sizes
4. Various hardware
5. Goop, Gorilla glue, and Solvent weld
6. Polyester Resin – optional but recommended
7. Vinyl tubing- 1/4” OD 1/8” ID
8. Super Soaker Shot Blast pump., or any check valve that will fit
9. Brass tubing connectors

Step 1.
Get your Big Blast
Posted Image
Remove the Orange Ring
Posted Image
And open it up
Posted Image

Step 2.
Find the section of plastic on the side of the tank (See pic)
Posted Image
And remove it
Posted Image
And then remove the stock barrel
Posted Image

Step 3.
Get a 3/4" to 1/2" PVC slip fitting
Posted Image
And then sand the 3/4” side till it fits the end of the tank
Posted Image
Apply solvent weld to the tank and bushing and let it dry, be sure to do so in a well ventilated location, preferably outside

Step 4.
Find the middle wall where the tank/barrel goes (see pic)
Posted Image
And trim it down, repeat for the other side of the shell
Posted Image
Make sure your tank fits in place nicely
Posted Image

Step 5.
Now minimize the shell
Posted Image
Then you will need to widen out the hole for your PVC barrel.
Posted Image

You could stop here and have a great simple and clean primary
Posted Image

But part 2 of this mod is integrating an Airtech 2000 tank, which Brokensvt has helped me with. (Ignore the different coupler in the following pictures)

Part 2, step 1.
Get a 2k tank, and glue it to a pvc coupler that is cut down so it rests snuggly in the tank
Posted Image
Line up where you want the tank’s coupler to be on the gun
Posted Image
And cut a hole for the PVC barrel
Posted Image

Step 2.
Next you will need to machine a trigger
Posted Image
Then line up where the pin would go in this trigger. and cut it to fit- also cut a notch in the shell for the trigger pin

Step 2 Continued.
Then you will need to screw a side-plate on both sides of the trigger
Posted Image

Step 3.
To hold the tank in place, I poured a Polyester resin into the shell, making sure to cover the tank to protect it. You can get this resin at a local craft store, I will explain it further in a future topic
Posted Image
If you have any resin left over, go ahead and reinforce the shell
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

From here I packed the gun up and sent it to Brokensvt.
Posted Image

I apologize for the large pictures, I will re-size them tomorrow.

Step 4:

The pickup line for the 2k needs to be close to the base of the pump tube, to

receive a full "stroke" of air each pump. That's where you'll drill the hole

for 1/4" OD tubing. Clean up any debris that might find its way into the

pump tube. Crumbs of plastic will destroy your pump's oring quickly.

Posted Image

I followed my usual routine of tacking the tubing in place with super glue(I

use Gorilla brand exclusively), then following-up with some Oatey's red can

PVC/CPVC/ABS cement. Goop could be an alternative sealing method, but I hate

the long cure time and the solvent in PVC cement will "weld" the tubing in

place.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Step 5:
While that assembly cures, use the same process to attach tubing to the 2k

tank. I also added a narrow diameter spring to the tubing here, to prevent

pinching of the line when bent. Pinched lines won't allow air into the tank

efficiently.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Here's the check valve in place on the line from the pump tube. The check

valve is necessary to prevent both tanks from emptying each time you fire

one. In this particular case, the 4B has a check valve in the base of the

pump tube, so we only need to add one to the 2k's input line. Obviously you

want the valve's flow oriented into the tank.

Posted Image

Step 6:
A little creative routing gets the tubing from the 2k tank to the rear of the

shell. I drilled a hole through the bulkheads, larger than the tubing to

allow movement. Debur the holes to prevent unnecessary chafing. Be sure no

lines are pinched, and that no lines impede movement of the trigger assembly.

Posted Image

And finally, all linked up.

Posted Image

This setup is efficient, but doesn't provide "lethal" pressures to the 2k

tank; so it's a great backup or "mercy" shot rather than launching a full-

bore 4B shot to someone point blank.

It was fun partnering with Lucian on this little project. He had a fun

concept and I was glad to be part of bringing it to fruition.

Nice work, guys! It's really clean.

However, I noticed a kink in the tubing right where it meets the 2K tank. Often, kink-removing springs work best outside tubing, rather than inside. I've come to like the tube-straightening springs from Magstrikes for this particular application, since they're fairly long and are made to fit over 1/4" OD tubing.

Holy fucking tits, that is clean as hell.

I would literally shit my pants if I got shot by the AT2k, I'd be so surprised.

It doesn't even look like it's there. Awesome, awesome job. 10/10.

Nice job there, good to see people working together.
How many more pumps than usual does it take to fill the 4B because you are also filling the 2k?

Awesome! Very nicely done. Heres a idea. Link the two barrels together and move the hopper forward. That way you'd could increase your rate of fire. Just a thought is all :)

That is beautiful. Is there any way of completing this mod without using up the space for a forward mounted pump?
that would make this basically invincible.

Just another 4B, but fantastically clean and well done- i particularly like the trigger setup on the 2k. And great job on the teamwork as well, two heads are always better than one. I would really like to find out more about the polyester resin. Is it like liquid epoxy? Does it legitimately strengthen and stiffen the shell? Is it expensive? Terrific work, guys.

What the fuck is up with your post? It has like a page of blank space. Does anyone else have this problem?

EDIT: Its fixed now. Weird

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
The pics were probably down because I was resizing them.

"I would really like to find out more about the polyester resin. Is it like liquid epoxy? Does it legitimately strengthen and stiffen the shell? Is it expensive?"

Polyester Resin a pourable plastic, comparable to Acrylic. It seems to stiffen the shell, but because of its brittleness, I doubt it will strengthen areas. 36oz is about $30+the bottle of Catalyst

“Is there any way of completing this mod without using up the space for a forward mounted pump?”

Nope :)

"How many more pumps than usual does it take to fill the 4B because you are also filling the 2k?"

About the same (5), maybe 1 or 2 additional pumps though because of the slight increase in volume.

A very fine craft, but why bother with the 2k? With the stock 4B pump you're not going to be shooting very far with it and with a hopper on the 4B it's not like you'll ever need the tiny backup shot.

I'd have gone with a rear pump replacement with something that can hit higher pressures, an OPRV on the big blast tank, and a tubing stop that allows you to divert all air from the pump into only the 2k tank thus allowing full pressurization of both tanks.

Lucy and SVT, you guys did a great job. Through continuously communicating with each other in the IRC, and all of the labor you guys put into this, the end product turned out to be amazing.

This is very nice. But it dosen't make much sense to add an air tank to an airgun.

Zorns right, 4B pumps suck dick . Do you need one more shot that badly? I do however see my self doing this on a shotty 4B but with a MM insted (thanks Dude13 for the idea!). Moveing the pump would not be that high on the list on that.

Aside from that, This is the tit`s. Clean as hell and its always good to see a new 4b or 2k mod let alone all in one.
