I'm fairly new here, but am interested in nerf warring and have noticed that MN wars don't seem to be coming together that well recently.

Please post in this thread your general location where you live (if you don't want to share an address) what kind of transportation you have available, and any decent nerf parks you have nearby. Also any particular days of the week which you know you'll have off of work/school. That way it's tons easier to plan when to have wars, where to have them, and even to arrange carpooling.

For myself: I live in Columbia Heights, and a nearby park which would be decent for Nerf is Huset Park. In the winter alot of people come there for ice skating, but it's a large park and there are plenty of areas away from the ice rinks for nerfing without hitting people who are skating. There is also this tiny park in my town which won't be on maps that has loads of trees and old playground equipment which nobody plays in which would make a great nerf arena.

I sometimes have a car I can borrow, I know how buses work. If I get my full time job I want this Friday when I interview I'll be getting my own car. I always have Sundays off, and sometimes other random days of the week. Right now I don't get Saturdays off pretty much ever.

I have made an unlisted google map which anyone can edit. Please consider marking up the map with parks you like and your own location.

Location: Mound (waaaaay west 'burbs)
Transportation: Car, plenty of it.
Best days: Saturdays
Worst days: Any weekday (work), Sundays in fall/spring/winter
Parks nearby: Lake Mtka Regional (Minnetrista)

Arfink, I'm a recruiter so if you need interviewing tips drop me a PM. Anything to help MN Nerfers get that skrillah!!!

I am also going to start ideation on this right her right now for a new war format: Low Commitment/High Intensity!

By this I mean a short war, 9-lunch or 10-lunch whatever, where you get in 2-5 SOLID games and you give it your all cuz you have no need to save any strength.
Advantages
• No need to clear a whole day. Hell, make plans in the afternoon no problem.
• Less prep necessary: make less darts and mod less blasters so no “oh I don’t have 12 blasters and 800 darts so I can’t make it”
• Less crap to bring: you don’t need 2 duffel bags, a tool box, and another trunk full of crap ‘just in case’. There is no ‘just in case’; you know exactly what will be happening. You’d be fine if the only thing you brought was one primary and some darts (how nice would that be?).
• Higher concentration of attendance because there is a smaller window to hit.
• No running around with 4 Lbs. of Taco Bell in your stomach, cuz after lunch you go on about your own biz!

I will host a war like this at some point, no current plans, but I would be very open if anyone wanted to borrow this model. Velveet, I could hit every Oak Park war if this was the style!

The Difference:
-Guns shoot bullets that kill people
-Blasters shoot darts that tag people

I do not play with guns.

Good idea, I'll add the parks we frequent.

Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to do anything with that map either.

Location: St. Louis Park
Transportation: Car, even more of it.
Best days: My work schedule is really easy to work around and I don't go to school anymore, so I'm pretty much free whenever.
Worst days:
Parks nearby: Oak Hill, although there's probably like 20-30 other parks in this town too.

I am also going to start ideation on this right her right now for a new war format: Low Commitment/High Intensity!

I do like this idea. My goal is to do a war a month out here next year, starting late spring, so we'll see how it goes!

Sounds cool. Some time today when it's not 1 AM I'll add those things to the map for those who can't get it working right. For me, a 20 min drive would be OK except it's my dad's car right now, and he's kinda stingy. Lomeinki Park on the map is one I just recently discovered, I intend to visit some time this week/end and take pictures. I have been there before, and it seems like a very nice place for smaller size wars. Also right now Sundays are great, and it's possible that if I'm working a 9-5 job instead of some random-hours-a-week junk I'll be more available on Saturdays. Right now I work at a bakery with odd hours, usually in the evening. (Roseville Byerly's on County C, drop by some time if you want to bother me/get introduced, ask for Tony.)

That said, I love the 9-noon battle idea, sounds great. Especially in the winter, when it's cold out and ya don't want to be out in it all day long. Also, I haven't gotten very good at dart making, though my modding skills are OK, so perhaps it might be viable to do an MN build/mod party some time?

Anyways, thanks for the input. I'm going to get some sleep, even though I don't work tomorrow. Also, SonReeceSonJensen, I may well ask you for some recruiting input. Expect a PM some time before Friday perhaps.
