Ok I got a rapid fire a while back and i wsa not impreesed with its range or noise it made. How can you make a arrel rotating system without using the guns own pressure? Also how can you fix the fact the air rease valve is halfway bettween the outer and inner barrels. Another problem how can you make guns eaisier to pressurize

That's a ton of questions. Most of them difficult to answer.

You can add an external tank by simply putting an air hose coupling on the outside of the case and connecting it to the piston assembly.

As far as I know, you need the air to be released halfway between the outer and inner barrels - that's just an integral part of that barrel design.

Easier to pressurize? You could do the external tank mod mentioned above (like Jon's Beast) and fill it with a compressor between wars. The size of the tank is arbitrary within reason.

Well first off, the air pressure in the bladder serves ONLY to rotate the barrels. The air burst that actually fires the dart is created through a system of valves and springs inside the reciprocating mechanism above the bladder, and the pressure of THAT system cannot be changed by any easy means. Increasing pressure of the bladder will only increase rate of fire, not range. That said, you can hook up a external power source (CO2, your own pressure tank etc) in the way that Cxwq described.

The fact that the point of release for the air burst is halfway between the outer and inner barrels is just a matter of efficiency. It would be far too complicated and inneffecient to have the nozzle move back and forth from one barrel to the other each shot, likewise confining the nozzle to one "ring" of barrels would halve the number of shots you can have. This is just a mechanically (though not very aerodynamically) efficient solution to those two problems.

I don't completely understand the whole mechanism that produces the burst of air, but couldn't you rubber-band some part of it in order to increase the internal pressure nessisary to actuate the mechanism? You would probably need to increase the pressure of the tank to compensate for the added difficulty of actuating the mechanism, but wouldn't rubber-banding part of it at least speed the air through the system?

Where are those pics of the 3-d model of the RF20/Wildfire innards?

Yes, if you could band or do a spring replacement on the piston mechanism it would increase the effective pressure reaching the dart. The difficulty lies in getting the band/spring in a position to do the job. Spoon tried the former and I tried the latter on the PC piston and as far as I know, neither of us was entirely successful.

I tried a rubber band over my piston on my PC, but it didn't increase the range. All it did was slow the RoF and increase the pumps/shot ratio, which is kind of bad. You can probably bike tube the RF20 and increase some range.

Yea the theory was valid, but in practice it didn't work very well. And yes, if you were to increase the working pressure of the internal mechanism, you'd have to increase the pressure feeding it as well.

When setting up a regulated tank system, is it possible to leave the pumping mechanism intact? (To be used with the existing tank, not with the larger regulated tank.) Do you connect the regulated tank where the stock tank ought to be, or in place of the pump?

So, you got to the spring? How'd you do it? I did the bike tube mod, so my PC's air bladder probably has enough pressure to push a fairly stiff spring. I just couldn't get to the spring, or else I would have already replaced it.
