I has been a while now and I am finally getting back into nerfing. I come to u with one question since I might be attending a nerf war soon. What distinguishes a primary from a secondary. Does one have A pistol after these or is a pistol a secondary. What characteristics do primaries/secondaries have? I come to you in y time of need and hope for a response.

Thanks,
Chris

I don't think there is much of a difference between blasters as a "weapon class".
Games that allow certain blasters only are usually distinguished, like Gunslinger's. Single shot spring pistols ONLY. There are special rules depending how sane your organizer is, like games only with rapid fire blasters like Magstrike.
Other then that, carry what you want. You don't need to really worry about that stuff.

The idea of a "secondary" is total bullshit. The closest thing is a spare gun that you like slightly less than your main gun.

Another definition of a secondary is a back up or hold out blaster. Something you can draw quickly while reloading your primary. This is usually something of the pistol variety.

Don't worry so much about what other people will allow. Throw your own wars and kick your friends' asses until they all want one.

Demon Lord hit the nail on the head here. Truthfully though, if you are anywhere as cool as Demon Lord, you don't need a secondary, hold out gun, or undermounted attachment (like the Guru).

All you need to do is emulate Demon Lord and parkour around everything shot at you! Afterall he is the King of Parkour yo.

He parkours over flat land while yelling tactical orders at no one. Demon Lord is the most legit ballsy nerfer of all time. He uses guns bigger then himself. Which is funny. I love you Demon Lord. No homo.

Use guns you like and want to use. All the pissing contest, mine shoots farther is retarded and pretty much ensures that you want a cock in and around your mouth. Just find a gun that feels right, and you like to use. For me, its a Maxshot.

Primary - Your main blaster
Secondary - The blaster you use to continue shooting people after your primary has run out of ammo.

Best noob-friendly definition I've ever heard.

I think once the Barricade comes out and you do the momentary trigger and Stefan mod on it, that will be the ultimate secondary of choice.

Well this is my "secondary" pistol, It houses a BS tank and it punches out 80ft and it is usually tucked inside my jacket.

I've actually use the pistol before my LSG cause if should I need to switch guns (2 secs)

- I rather rather have that gap before the getting close to the other guy
- If the other guy knows I only have a single shot pistol left, He probably would be as scared if it was the LSG

Nice setup, I definitely see some TinyTim-esque design there, and I can vouch for the practicality of that setup.

In terms of secondaries I now alternate between TinyTim:

and the Eccentric:

As they are both compact with high range.

At least for me, I believe a primary should have a high rate of fire, while a secondary should have more range (and a sacrifice in ROF). This way when there is a target a good distance away you have plenty of time to pull out a secondary and take a shot, while the majority of conflicts will occur in medium to close range when you have less time, and so a higher ROF blaster is both more useful, and more commonly used.

The proliferation of hopper clips has made Primary vs Secondary weapons a somewhat passe notion. When you can simply reprime your longer-ranged and more accurate "primary" and fire without reloading, grabbing a "secondary" weapon is not neccessary. That's not to say pistols or other small arms are useless. Far from it; they provide a much more stark alternative in terms of play and pace than they ever did before. However, they're no longer all that useful as a back up weapon. Why cary more blasters when you can just carry more darts?

VACC does have a point here. Lets say you're using a ls as your primary. you could just carry 4 or 5 drum mags and a few stampede mags, instead of an entire other blaster.

There is a practical issue that limits secondaries: the ease of carrying it along with your primaries, and the ability to quickly switch to your secondary when your primary is out of ammo. The practical solution is a holstered pistol, though some people have developed more extravagant methods. Integrations can serve the same purpose as a secondary as well.

I used to be a big fan of carrying around a holstered pistol, but the advent of large-capacity magazine systems on blasters has been guiding them towards obsolescence. They might still be useful if you're using a blaster which has a very slow re-fire rate (i.e., something with a breech).

I think there is some confusion as to whether this term means "a blaster which you carry with you, but which is not your main arm", or whether it just refers to some backup blaster that you don't necessarily carry with you every round, but which acts as a sort of "spare tire". I've always thought it was a reference to the former, so for example a holstered pistol would be a secondary, but a backup gun that you aren't carrying with you would just be another primary.

A secondary integrated into your primary frees you from carrying around another blaster, yet allows you a backup shot. While an integration isn't really a secondary, it's already pointed at your opponent, not holstered at your hip.

I still enjoy pistol-like blasters. Their only major downfall is the low ROF.
