Still waiting on Doom to get back to me about a possible UMD location. If that is available I'd rather host a war there than anywhere else.

We do however need access to a PA or something, last UMD there were overlapping rounds because people didn't hear when the last one ended.

Last UMD we were overlapping rounds because the hosts weren't coordinated at all and spent too much time arguing about what the next round was going to be.

DAW 2009 went smoother than 2010 because people knew what was going on.

I myself, being new to wars, don't know where UMD is. Where is it?

I emailed Andrew Brooks (UMD NAS president) and am waiting for a reply. I'll post when I get a reply back.

If I recall correctly, there is no PA in the Art-Soc building, but they might be able to use the emergency bells. Or they could be more methodical and assign people to floors and sides of floors. Those people could go through and tell everyone the game is over. With enough people this would be very fast.

Edit: It seems they were way ahead of us. Andrew got in contact with the reservations office a month ago. But they're being difficult and absurdly slow, so nothing is definite yet.

Punctuation + capitalization = non-shitty post quality.

Rules will be specified when we have a venue secured, but generally if you take a look at what other wars allow (and don't allow), you'll have a pretty good idea of what we will and won't allow.

Hey thats sounds cool, I'd be able to bring probably quite a few friends. Is it outside or inside? I read the whole post but there was alot of different locations talked about. Also im pretty much the only one of my friends with a gun that hits at least 90 ft. I could probably help my firends get some higher ranges though, if its outside.

Who cares if it hits 90 ft.? They can bring their "short range" guns, and just rush people, it's fun.

Fuck range, just nerf.

Muttonchops and T-dogg are testaments to the fact that range is overrated.

Read more, cry about ranges less.

I said (about three times) we're waiting on Doom. He's trying to get a location at UMD for us.

Well seeing that this website is mostly for making nerf blasters ranges better, then I see no reason why not too. But anyways thanks I guess i'll wait for what he says.

This site is a resource for nerfers to get and share information. Improving a gun's range is only part of that exchange. You'll find that even in the modding sections, many mods are not focused on range, but ROF or perhaps cosmetics. Besides, range is only as good as the person pulling the trigger. Just because something can shoot 150' flat doesn't mean that you'll hit people at 150'. I've found that a lot of kills take place from 50' to 75', so if you are accurate in that section, you'll rack up kills even if your primary is far from top of the line. I used a stock spring PAS shooting 80' to 90' for quite a while, and it could be taken head to head with +bows and the such despite the lower range. Speed, aggression, and good accuracy while shooting in motion more than make up for a deficit in range.

And this war, hopefully, will secure UMD...probably the Art-Soc building, an indoor venue. You don't need long range in there. There's so many stairwells and corners that ROF is what counts more. Even in the open hallways, standoffs could be broken by shifting people to pressure other entrances. Just remember that we're shooting each other with plastic toy guns and foam darts. The point is to have fun, regardless of how far your gun shoots and how many players you hit.

If this pans out, I'll definitely get drawn down to DC again, the venue is too great to pass up.

It doesn't matter if I'm in a wheelchair, if there is another war at UMD, I will be there.

For the goobers: Don't make a war decision based on whether or not you have the right blaster. Even if you don't, someone will be able to lend you one.

I can attest to short ranges. At umd, one of my favorite blasters to use is my Powerclip. I slam fire it, and with three mags, I have done very well defending a point. That thing doesn't have the best ranges, but it gets the job done.

Melee also can work there too, I have foam tonfa, and next go around, I'm thinking of bringing a foam crowbar, ala Freeman.

Ok Nerf has far from anything to do with accuracy. Ever play nerf on a windy day? Personally I can't hit a thing. Now if you wanna talk about accuracy go play airsoft with .2 gram or higher BB's. Then you'll get some hits. And Yes most of the mods in the modification secton are about the ranges, even the ROF mods also have something else to increase the range of the over all blaster and i don't think anyone can deny that. If the mod for increasing the range of the blaster isn't in the ROF write up you can probably find it somewhere else. Of course there are cosmetics but not as much as actual modifications. And lastly I did not focus on the ranges in my post I said hey cool a nerf war in my area. Maybe me and my friends can go to it since we haven't been to a big war. Flaming BS about ranges is just a little over the top.

To clarify, I'm not organizing anything. I just know the guy who runs the UMD Nerf club.

I haven't received any updates from Andrew, and I don't suspect we'll get any until next week. Given my experience with the reservations office from a group I do run, I wouldn't be surprised if the reservations people suddenly decide "Oh, it's too late to reserve something for this month!" I'm still hoping something will come through. We'll see.

In the Art-Soc building, range didn't seem to matter too much. I did fine with a low-ROF springer and a stock Berserker. I think next time around I'll use a different gun each round to see what works and what doesn't.

Edit: Some people still don't get it, so I'll say it again. I'm not organizing a war at UMD. I know the guy who is. I can't say this any clearer.

I agree with all of the above. The only gun I have that shoots far is a mere megamissle. But even with my friend using a megamissle, I still pwned the crap out of him with my raider. And as for the actual war, I don't think I will be able to make it if it is at UMD. My dad won't drive me to another state for a nerf war ever, but somehow I might be able to persuade him...

I'm down with anything, if it's indoors I'll just use the Guru Mk2 without the bungees. I haven't ever played indoors before so that'll be a neat change of pace.
