I just recently aquired a Stampede through a trad with one of my friends. When i received it, it was totally stock. I was able to modify it but encountered a weird problem with the gears. I amped up the voltage to 18 volts (first i did an ar mod and added a magstrike piston spring) and it fired of three darts. It seemed fine then i tried to fire it again and the chamber moved forward but it never fired. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and tried again but the same thing happened. I removed some batteries and got it to 13.5 volts and the same thing is still happening even after I realigned the gears and it fired 5 times then continued to stall. Can you all who have modded stampedes please help me?

Try it with just the stock spring. It may be that you overloaded the gears torquing ability.

What batteries are you using?

They may not have high enough discharge rates to match the increased current draw the motor requires to pull stronger spring loads.

Every time I read a post by you, Zorn's lemma, or Cwxq I feel so stupid.
More relevant to the topic, he also could have put a part in slightly wrong. I know that doing that makes magstrikes go nuts.

So the plunger tube moves but it does not fire?

Maybe your plunger rod catch is misaligned, or the spring fell out of place?

EDIT: Also, what type of batteries are you using? If you're just using standard AA then the current draw might be a problem with the added spring, like SGNerf mentioned.

I was using AA batteries temporarily. I had figured that it was just the discharge rate.
@Everyone else: thanks for the feed back I was able to fix my stampede.
