Important: I don't think i'll get around to this until summer...but i will release a guide to modding my current game, sometime soon.

Originally I had planned to stop at one nerf game, which many of you haven't even played, because i have no hosting. However, tricksleeves at NHQ inspired me to continue in the series of games. So i WILL make a second one, i just have no idea what. So i need you guys to help me think of all the stuff.

Don't bother me about wether i can program it or not. I'm actually going to use gamemaker 5.2/5.3 to make it, and i'm relativly advanced with it. Also, don't suggest that i mod another game, as i would like to keep this original.

Throw your ideas at me:

No internet play. Basically, it's not worth the time and effort. If your really want an internet game, play something that requires at least some skill. Don't expect MMORPGs from teenagers.

Below Subject to Change.

Homemades/Uber-Powered Guns: This also includes the Ultimator. Why? Because reload time is extremely slow. However, i may consider them to be added later, or as a stationary weapon.

Story Mode: Basically, i feel story mode is less fun than free-roam mode. I understand a lot of you might like it, but in my opinion, the time and effort to get a semi-decent story mode could be converted to making gameplay go from good to awesome.

Integrations: The weapon system, with primarys, secondarys, extras, and maybe even vehicles, i don't think integrations are really necessary based on the amount of effort to include them. Really, the don't enhance the gameplay drastically. However, it is possible, i just don't know how you'd get around to it.

Bullet Time: I will more than likely include this, as it is relativly simple to do, and spices up gameplay. Also, perhaps i could make some enemies immune to it, to make things more interesting.

Wars/Clans: An interesting idea, its just AI is very tricky to do without complex coding, so you'd probably end up controlling your teammates yourself. For this game, AI will need to take a definate boost. I don't really think this would be the main part of the game. However, i might allow you to challenge other gangs to a war.

I hope to make a sort of GTA style Nerf game. Basically, your in a city, and you go around doing stuff. You can probably end up riding on vehicles, maybe joining gangs, and the city will have randomly generated events. Most of this depends on the ability to save games, which i'm going to learn, sometime. Maybe i'll even have it that if your bad enough, the cops come after you.

Primary and Secondary Weapons
New Extra Types Of Weapons (Grenades, H2H, Etc)
Save and Continue Games
Vehicles - Skateboard, Bike, Car (Drive-Bys, Woot)
Karma System - Based on your actions
Secondary Fire
Extra Usage Of Cash
Bullet Time
Buy/Sell Weapons

Anything else?


Weapons: I won't have more than 20, i think. I mean, yes, i could say "wow look at me i have 45+ nerf weapons and off brand as well", but is it really enhancing gameplay? Not really. Seriously, who wants to go around with a percepter? And i don't play on including ball weapons, i mean, seriously, they're all balls.

Awesome, here's an idea: Bullet-Time! I'm not sure how hard this would be and all, hey who knows?

Oh and could you hold two secondary weapons at a time? (2x LnL!)

You could start out with one or two guns, then as you got more money, you could mod them to increase range, or buy new weapons.

I'm thinking the story line could go like this. You're a kid in the suburbs with one nerf gun, probably a pistol. You find the NIC and start to get into Nerf alot, so you meet local clans in your area. You have several wars and eventually "convert" some people to start a clan with you. Each war you get, you'll gain another mod ability or cash to get more guns and stuff. Then you take a roadtrip and go around the country, warring with lots of other people and clans.

I guess since this is the second game in your series you might have to change and add to my idea if you decide to use it, but thats up to you. Also could you send me the game through email? I PMd you a while ago but you didn't respond.

As for bullet time, that might be cool but it couldn't be continuous so you could have some type of bar that drained your bullet time ability. A player could replenish it by getting power ups.

Alright those are my ideas.

Interesting idea. Though I really think you should have a system where you can integrate 2 weapons, make the weapon system a bit more customizable.

What About adding the vortex wepons ( firestorm, X2, ect..) provided you'd have to add new ammo but it'd still be awsome.

You should add the ultimator,even though you would have to add yet another new piece of ammo. Also you should be able to gain knowledge after each war, such as learning different designs for homemades, and you MUST be able to trade your weapons and barter.

How far does your expertise in programming extend? Post a limit or something; I find an attempt to make "bullet time" in a simple video game would be strenous and hard to do... And what language will this be programmed in?

I dunno if this has been suggested before, but you could try altering the code of an existing game called Madness Interactive. It's open source, and the game looks like it would work if you knew what you were doing with Flash. Most of the work is done for you... You might have to scrap the vehicles idea for this to work (unless you were really l33t), but it's something to consider.

maybe bells and whistles, or possibly bold and size enlargements would have made it more obvious

who am i kidding, i should be nicer...

I did read that, but posted my opinion anyways. Half-life mods are very popular and would draw a much wider fan base if people found it fun.

a prelude of a "i know you said [whatever] but...." would have helped....

the half-life fanbase is useless, i can pretty much guarantee this is not going to top counter strike or specialists, your not going to get a larger fan base, you might get a couple of people who download it and go, "mehhh, this aint half bad" but the only true person who might play it for more than 12 hours is a NIC member, so i suggest moustache sticks with what works...

NinjZ: lets see you code bullet time easier in HL?!?!
