I think that it is fine the way it is. CX chooses who needs to be deleted because of the way they act.

It's true that many kids under 13 are morons, but not all of them are. I think it would be incorrect to punish all of them for the actions the majority does... And with how small (compared to some sports) nerf is to other sports, I don't think we can really afford to lose a source of new nerfers... Even if alot of them are morons.

The link Famine so kindly posted up there is the new Terms of Service which clearly state that you have to be 13 to use this forum.

I agree that there are people under 13 who can be great forum members but this is a legal issue not a personal choice.

Thanks to COPPA, any site that the FCC decides is targeted towards kids must get written/signed parental consent from members under 13 before collecting any personal information. Email address, interests, and hobbies are considered personal information. I don't want to deal with having your parents fax me any goddamn consent forms so I have expressly stated in the Terms of Service that this site is not for people under 13.

If you operate a commercial Web site or an online service directed to children under 13 that collects personal information from children or if you operate a general audience Web site and have actual knowledge that you are collecting personal information from children, you must comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

So now I am in compliance with the first part of this nice little paragraph describing who COPPA applies to. Regarding the second part, anyone who tells me that they are under 13 will be deleted immediately. Sadly, I have no way of knowing your age and many people lie in the birthday thing, so I have no way to enforce COPPA unless someone wants to volunteer that information.

So, in short, we're all over 13 here. It says so right there in the Terms of Service.

Alot of time, age doesnt reflect maturity. If they are 12 years old, are smart, and make inteligent posts, why not let him/her stay? It would help them, and the community. If they act stupid, ban'em. That would apply to any age.

I say, if you lie about your age, and make intelligent posts, you should be smart enough not to say your real age until your 13. If you say your 13, but your twelve, and say that your twelve, then your a dumbass and deserve to be deleted.

I guess in reality, it doesn't really matter. Even though the site needs to comply with certain laws, people are probably going to lie about their age anyway. I remember that I used to back in the day, but now that I'm over 18, I don't have to worry about that anymore.

I was around 11 when I started posting on message boards, including NerfOnline and NerfCenter... I mean, if you're smart. Blah.

No intelligent stuff from me today.

I know 15 year olds that can best me in a debate...

...and I know people into their 30's that are so fucking stupid the only reason they figured out how to reproduce is because they were mimicking the porn movie they had playing at the time, and even that was a close call..

Age does not reflect maturity. Hear, hear.

It's more a question of attitude than maturity. A lot of people get the impression that a forum (or anywhere they can wank on the internet) is a place where they can do whatever they want and nobody can stop them... Some "liberating" power or some such ridiculous nonsense. And then there are some forum communities where everyone is helpful and has a good attitude and it takes next to no moderation to keep it a great forum - because people coming in see how things operate already and try to fit into the mold.

Somebody pops onto NH right away.. First thing they see is Shortshit talking about Famine's mom's bargain BJs. All well and good, but noobs might get the impression that that kind of talk is acceptable by anyone, about anything, to anyone. And it really ain't. Shortshit is a special case and Famine's mom most certainly isn't taboo.

Tell her I say hi.

well, i'm not sure that people should be exposed to our sort of language, especially under the age of 13. I believe that is one of the major reasons good old intelligent piney is not allowing his son on the forums just yet, if at all....

God damn you mother fuckers. I skip this topic for a few days and this is what I come back to? I hate you all.
But you're right, Shortshit is a special case. Because he's a special friend, who does many special things for me.

It really makes no difference what any of you are saying here about age reflecting maturity. These are the rules. That COPPA thing Cx was talking about is unlikely to change their rules so this topic really won't make a difference. Even if it was one hundered percent that voted that Cx should allow people under 13 it's probably not going to happen, that is unless COPPA changes their rules.

Here is a little under two months worth of the admin logs, filtered for deletion, suspension, IP bans, and denied account requests. Many of the denied account requests are because of IP matches with previously deleted members.

When I see an asshole, I just think: WWDHD?
