SgNerf, if it's possible, can you test the current draw in your Stampede?

i have serious concerns about using unprotected Li-Ion cells in my Stampede and would rather get some Protected ones.


I don't use Li-Ion cells, but I did test the current draw of the Stampede with stock voltage a few posts back in this thread.

Thanks MavericK96. I still would like current figures for SgNerf's one given that it's modded.

Really really really really wanna avoid unprotected cells for this. I may even skip Trustfire/Ultrafire cells for the stuff they use at CandlePowerForums...

Okay, i've tested the current draw of one of my modded Stampedes with a digital multimeter.

The modded Stampede unit i tested uses 4 x TrustFire 14500 unprotected Li-Ion rechargeable batteries at full charge (4 x 4.2V = 16.8V) powering the stock motor, with a 9kg load aftermarket spring.

The current draw is around 2.2-2.4A when firing in full auto.

Good to know. Likely the current draw is more due to the added torque from the 9 kg spring.

Sweet.

AW's protected 18650-26's and 18650-29's are rated for 5.2A max discharge. Sure, they're more expensive, but I like the idea of not blowing up my shoulder :ph34r:

Getting them also gives me impetus to make a high powered tactical Incand :D

Someone on CPF found some D-ish sized 32600 Li-Ion batteries.

Unprotected though. and with that kind of size and capacity, i wouldn't accept anything less than Protected.

There's also D-ish sized 32650 ones with more capacity but slightly longer. probably too long to have 6 in the battery tray. would need some sort of metal spacer. Again, unprotected.

EDIT: DAMMIT!!! Polarizer doesn't ship the LFP 32600s overseas as they're not UN rated... May have to settle for C diameter 26650 Protected Li-Ion and LFP batteries =___=;

I am currently using a 19.2v drill battery to power it. Until I finish my output adjuster assembly for it, it will continue to jam and fail to cycle, no surprise there. The bigger problem right now, for me, is the gear slipping off the drive shaft of the motor. Has anybody else had this problem with lower currents, or am I about to herp a mad derp?

This i would like to see. I never had to adjust my voltage since i did spring mods to suit my voltage.

I've currently got mine hooked up to 12 volts, and has an additional spring (I think it's a chain blazer?). Now mine hase the problem of getting darts stuck in the dart tooth. The motor gear line up seems to be off, cause I think the plunger has started releasing as the whole chamber moves backwards..... has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I have had the same problem, the way to fix it is to increase the return spring on the piece below the catch, (if you have replaced the catch spring.)
