Ok, I have a stand up made in china scooter. It has 100watt, 24v motor running on two 12volt 4.5 Ah batteries. I just replaced the batteries because they were getting old. I weigh about 95lbs and the thing goes about 15 mph. I use it for work when I have to make deliveries around the corner. Much fun.
But taking apart the scooter got me thinking about making it faster. I want to go at least make it go above 20 mph.

After doing a little research, I realize that I need to replace the controller, throttle, motor and possibly batteries if I want to up the watts and/or voltage.

My question is to you guys, what would happen if I were to just replace the motor with a higher wattage but with the same 24v specs? Will I get any change in performance? Will it even work with my current set up?

No, because the original controller won't supply the higher wattage motor with anything more than the peak wattage that it can dish out (probably around 150 watts max). Which is what you are already at.
20+mph is going to require 500 watts or more. Which would involved simply upgrading to a much larger over-all model.

Damn, I wish it was more simpler. Well I got the scooter for free at a carnival, so you can imagine why I dont want to shell out a couple hundreds. If I wanted to upgrade, I would try to get a 50cc mini dirt bike. I guess I just keep on replacing the batteries on this baby.

If the scooter you have is rated that low it's probably only worth about $60. It also provides you with zero space to add anything internally and won't be easy to modify. I wouldn't recommend overvolting it either, especially if you are currently reliant upon it as your only transportation. Doing so may get you more top-speed, but it can also kill the controller or the motor. Adding a third battery will require you to get a 36-volt charger to charge the whole pack together, or a 12-volt charger to charge the extra battery separately.
Either live with it as-is, or save up to get something more powerful.

I had an e300S for a while that could only manage 19mph when I overvolted it to 36 volts by cable-strapping a battery under the optional seat. That model is only $200 most places.
I also had an mx350 that held up fairly well and topped out at 19mph.

If I wanted to upgrade, I would try to get a 50cc mini dirt bike.

In that instance I would recommend a moped rather than a mini dirt bike.

If you want more speed without a serious dent in your wallet, you should really consider converting it to be gas powered. My cheapo Zooma scooter can top out at about 21 mph, and accelerates real nice given the gear ratio and engine torque. The engine can't be anything over 30cc, by guess would be that its a 27.

But seriously, find a chainsaw and get your hands dirty. It's well worth it in the end. Plus learning to work with auto parts is a pretty valuable skill.

If you want to go faster than 15 miles per hour and don't need to go more than 10 miles in any direction, I would recommend getting a bike. Old Road bikes are usually pretty cheap at garage sales, in thrift stores, and on craigslist (easily within your 50-70$), and can easily hit 20 mph with no modification.

I mention this because I know that anything with motors are liable to be under licensing restrictions, and you may need to check your local laws to see if it is even legal to drive scooters faster than that one without a license (Which I'm assuming you don't have since your approximate weight is the same as my younger sibling and dog).

And yeah, I'm actually in a similar boat. I'm 17 and have a driver's license, but there's really nothing like cruisin around on a motorized scooter.

As for where to find a motor, you may try looking around at pawn-shops, junk yards, friends garages, or anywhere else you can find a salvageable chainsaw motor for cheap. If I remember correctly, most of those are 27cc, which will get you easily to a bit over 20 mph, probably 25 if you don't care about being able to climb hills.

However, if you're converting, you're pretty much going to have to be able to weld, though you might be able to get away with using steel brackets, nuts, and bolts. It kinda depends on what your scooter frame is like. Check out Tzi's scooter world for more info on scooter modding. PM me if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help.

You're 19 and 95 lbs?? Ya you could use a 4000 cal diet haha but I'd also recomend a gas scooter, I had one that I bought on ebay for $200 and It went 22 mph and I was probably weighing around 120 lbs way back than.

Bikes are quite useful my good sir, they don't take much energy (unless the journey is uphill). I use mine to get to church which is 5 miles away, and it only takes me roughly a half hour, which equals out to about 10 MPH, not much less than the scooter. That, and you don't need to charge it.

I could see upgrading a cheap scooter, but scooters don't handle well at all. I had a 27cc gas scooter that went about 30 and it was definitely squirrely at top speed.

Maybe yours was just shit. I can zip around residential corners at top speed and have no handling problems at all.

Yeah, for the whole summer I've been eating McDonalds, Chipotle, Three Brothers and Takeout pretty much everyday. I probably weigh 100lbs.....God willing

Anyways, yeah, I dont want a fucking bike, the whole point is to go with a motor other then my balls. Im probably not gonna get a bike. I dont want to spend no more then $100. What I really have my mind set on is getting a chainsaw motor since it already has a clutch. And with my light ass, that shit is gonna fly. My father knows how to wield so thats covered.

I know its crazy, but thats pretty much what Im aiming for. This is what my scooter looks like, but its black not pink. The motor is driven by belt. So a 27cc or more motor driving that small wheel should be much fun ^.^

Oh, man, didn't realize what kinda scooter you had. That puppy looks like it would take some serious effort to convert. You're gonna need to expand the frame in the back to make room for the motor. I'd almost start from scratch if I were you, you're really going to want, pneumatic wheels.

Are you using a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke chainsaw? The 2 stroke can provide a bit more power, but it usually doesn't have a cooling mechanism in it, though a 4 stroke does. There also may be some work involved to get a proper system for the belt on.
