I recently took apart my SS2 because when I pumped it, air would escape through the pump tube and through the front of the air tank. One thing that kept the air in the tank was when I pumped up my gun and pushed up the pump and held it in place so no air could easily go through the pump shaft. There doesn't seem to be any problems witht the tank itself, but there is definately a problem. Any suggestions or ideas?

Sounds like a typical aging SS2...like mine.
But is it leaking from the pump itself, or out the barrel?
Mine leaks when you pump slowly...as though there were a leak somewhere at the firing "plunger" (I don't know what else to call it...it's a "push" rather than a "pull" like the SM's / AT's ) and then you hear air seeping out the barrel.
What worked for me was to give the area at the black "X" a quick shot of silicone spray. Then, when priming, I usually need to give it three or four quick pumps to get it to "seal", then it stops making the leaky noise. Then I pump up as usual, no more than six pumps. Still shoots 80 feet or so (5" PVC barrel).
Hope that may help some. I took mine apart too, but only so I could stick it on my Sawtooth.

If you're not sure where its leaking, take a straw and stick one end in your ear then move around the gun to places where you think the leak is, until you hear the air rushing up the straw.
If its leaking from the pump, do what piney said. Other places like the tube or the airtank, plumbers goop. If its from the barrels I think you can spray WD40 down there, but not sure about that one.
