Question about this mod guys. Only my 2nd attempt at modding so sorry for the noob question.

Ok I've drilled ok some stuff out of it. In the back of the tube it looks like theres a ring with 3 pieces of plastic coming out of it attaching itselfs to the tube. Do I remove that ring?

You don't have to. Those pieces are what originally supported the air restrictor. If you want to go for completion the remove it, but if it is going to be too much effort don't bother. You've already opened up airflow in the barrel by quite a lot.

It allows you to remove the clip when the priming bar is in the forward position.

I know the most effective ways to remove air restrictors are to drill them out or use pipe cutters to cut the assembly apart, but I'm at college with no access to a drill or pipe cutters. I modded a nite finder using the method of sticking the assembly in a pot of boiling water to melt the glue and it worked pretty well; would this method work on the alpha trooper (or raider or recon)? I've also seen people recommend on a few threads using zippo lighter fluid to dissolve the glue, but haven't seen anyone confirm this working. So what would be the verdict on ghetto AR removal?

i cant see that working with this blaster because as far as i can there isnt any glue, but i might be mistaken and it might work, i just bashed it out with a screw driver haha, if you try it be sure to let me know

I attempted using boiling water to disassemble the AR, but I made the mistake of resting the barrel on the edge of the pot, so I stopped trying once I noticed that the plastic was beginning to melt. The five minutes that it was in the water didn't do anything to loosen up the glue though, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Quick question. Has anyone found a good spring replacement for this gun?

A mod video on youtube () says that the spring from the ERTL rapid fire shotgun works well.

I have heard that some people use cut down [k26] springs in their raiders. Since the alpha trooper is just a reshelled raider that would probly work.

No. [k26] doesn't fit in any of the Recons (Such a shame...). RFSG springs, however, do.

yea any spring recommendations are helpful because i have yet to find any in my arsenal or home depot that fit

Just a foot note, when you put this back together, make sure the bolt & jam door interlock right or you won't be able to prime it. Also, without the stock, the raider is 3/4" longer than the trooper.
