Hey all. I'm just finishing up a Longshot with an Angel breech and other goodies, and one of the last things left to do is work on the plunger set up. I intend to add a spring and replace the plunger head. However, I don't have one of the BBB springs I normally use (PM me if you live near San Diego and have one to sell by the way, I'd be happy to buy), and in the event I can't get one, I wanted to know if there are any springs that would be close to the equivalent of a black LS spring and a BBB spring? I want to get decent range, but don't want to break the bolt sled with too much power, know?

Thanks for any answers, I appreciate them all.

Well, you ought to go easy on your catch, so I recommend adding a raider spring, or perhaps an NF/eliminator combo, and recon springs are similar to raider springs. In general, less stress on the catch will make it more reliable, and will give more longevity to a stock boltsled.

I use a cut down length of [k26]. It works very well.

If I remember right, someone posted a way to make your own, stronger catch... I'll search that out in a second. But what kind of ranges with the stock+raider? They both seemed like weak springs to me... And I do have a [k26], and I'd love to be able to just cut that shit down and use it, but I'm worried that I won't have a boltsled or catch in a few shots with that. You do any reinforments Whisper?

I believe that the [k26] Springs are very similar to the AR-15 Springs that Captain Slug uses in his Longshots. The AR-15 is said to be the perfect balance between power and durability when the blaster is reinforced, so the [k26] can't be far off from that statement.

I also (personally) think the BBB Spring is slightly stronger than a cut-down AR-15/[k26], giving greater risk when it comes to damaging or breaking internals without proper protection, but i would love someone to confirm or correct that for me if possible.

A BBB spring is not stronger than an AR-15 recoil spring. I always replace my BBB springs with AR-15 recoils every time I get a BBB, and so do many nerfers. Also it's not stronger than a [k26] either.

On Topic: If your going to do a spring combo I highly suggest you get yourself a way stronger catch. I can't think of anyone off hand that makes them, but I am quite sure you can find somone if you look around or search it up. Also you need to reinforce your sled, they tend to wanna shit out on people a lot.

First off, as always, thank you guys for the input, this is giving me a much clearer idea of what's what here. Secondly, the picture I'm getting is this: add a AR-15/[k26] and I should reinforce the catch and boltsled, add a BBB and I should still look at the catch, or add a recon spring and just upp the catch spring. If it makes any difference, I have a shotgun forgrip built, which should put less stress on the boltsled.

Though I still would appreciate confirmation on the above, what I think I'll do is try out a Recon/Raider spring, see if I like the range, and if not, work my way up both with springs and reinforcements.

Why is everyon so worried about the catch? Have you all had a bunch break? Mine has held up to plenty abuse over the years. And my LS has like a 35 pound load.

Do you have an older gen Longshot? That might be why its held up so well. I remember my old first gen one never needing reinforcement, even with a BBB spring and first gen stock spring. I really don't know if there's a noticeable difference in strength, but I have one of the yellow, new gen ones.

Yep it's the old blue one, but I think its the 2G one with some internal black (I believe 1G had mostly orange internals).

A BBB spring is not stronger than an AR-15 recoil spring.

Thanks for clearing that up.
