The trigger valve in these is what has been described as a hammer or momentary valve. It uses a spring and a weight to quickly open and close a valve between the tank and barrel.

Ahh, interesting, so what results in the semiautomatic or automatic effect is not a special valve per se, but instead a system which automatically opens and closes the valve? Cool.

To Futher explain the Trigger system,

Imagine a Semi-auto revolver:

1. Pull the trigger back causes the hammer to be pulled back

2. Pulling the trigger past a certain point causes the hammer to be released

3. The Hammer slams into the back of the cartridge.



It's the exact same method except the cartrige is actually a vavle

PS: Is that soda bottle really a better choice than a metal drink bottle? Or is the primary concern the more dangerous nature of the metal bottle if something were to go wrong?

If its just there as a demonstration of the expansion capability then ignore this.

No, its there because I'll be using a soda bottle. As for your first question, there's a reason grenades are made out steel.

But yeah, I'm not really too worried about it. There's been a lot of "controversy" about the use of water bottles in pneumatics as of late on this forum, so I do understand your concern. I kind of want to quell some of the paranoia regarding them later this summer and do some failure testing.

Anyway, I'm 100% confident that a soda bottle wrapped loosely in denim will not hurt me if it fails at the 20 PSI that this blaster's OPV kicks in at.

I don't think using a soda bottle is to much of a concern. The Mythbusters did a test with a 2 liter soda bottle and one of those water cooler jugs. The 2 liter soda bottle withstood 90 PSI and the water cooler jug only withstood 50 PSI.
