Hey all,

Gen 1 Night-Finder, put an ACE 49 spring in it, 4 inch cpvc barrel 1/2".

Not really, achieving more than 35-40 ft, ive heard you can get into the 50's-60's even.

Would brassing it with 9/16" be better? maybe some banding?

Any input will be appreciated, thanks.

Did you remove the AR's? Did you improve the seal? What did you use to put the on? We need to know these things first; before we can help you.

It's probably the seal between the plunger head and the plunger tube. Add another o-ring with some e-tape underneath. Then lube it all up and you should be good to go. The faster air generated by a bigger spring is useless if half of it escapes behind the plunger in-stroke.

An ACE 49 is a pretty powerful spring too, you really should glue a layer or two of craft foam on the plunger head as protection against accidental dry firing and for general gun health.

IS the barrel glued on well? What size stefans are you using? How are their fit in the barrel? What glue did you use?

On another note, you can give any nitefinder a much longer barrel and achieve great ranges. A well modded nitefinder can handle a 5-6 inch barrel.

The nitefinders I sell on eBay have 4" CPVC barrels with ACE #49's in them and they get low 70's consistently. Thats because it's all in the perfect seal and heavy lube. I take Teflon tape and wrap the plunger head about 5 or 6 times, then put the o-ring back on and it's capable of vacuum loading because of the seal.

Air restrictors are out, barrel is hot glued on, looks like i need to improve the seal.

I am however using stock darts, mainly streamlines and taggers.

Your darts may be too light, then. If you want to experiment, take four streamlines. Shove a bb in the head in the first, two bb's in the second, three in the third, and leave the last one stock. See which shoots furthest. With the off-centered single and double bb's, you'll probably have them go wild, but once you have an idea of what your dart weight should be, you can make taggers out of the stock darts.

Also, if you're upping the spring, have you reinforced the plunger head? (Longer screw, larger washer, etc.) That won't help your ranges, but may with your blaster's reliability. Adding a chopped off pen spring to the catch spring may be a good idea as well for the same reason.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Just came in from doing some range testing, its late and dark, so i dont have official numbers, but the results are far better.

I added a second o-ring, put teflon tape under them, and added some reinforcement.
