I have two cats and MAN do they poop! So I have many very sturdy buckets with lids and handles doing nothing so chopping one up for the sake of nerf is more than fine.

The idea here is a cheep and easy way to make a core that is penetrable from all sides.

Here you can see I cut three spots open in a litter bucket with plenty of room in the bottom to hold darts. A fourth is easy to make but I'll explain more later.

Some simple measures and cuts of cardboard here.

Put them in as such and BAM: instant portable cheep core!

MAJOR FLAW: after much testing it is quite the exception if a dart will acctually STAY in the core instead of bouncing out. About one in seven shots stays in. So while this prototype itself is basically useless the idea is sound and could be duplicated with larger objects.

SILVER LINING: cat litter box pannels like the ones I cut out are great alternatives when polycarbonate sheets are overkill!

The Difference:
-Guns shoot bullets that kill people
-Blasters shoot darts that tag people

I do not play with guns.

Hmm... I have a cat as well and several of these. This is a great idea for ammo depot games, good thinking.

Why not just cover the holes with paper? It would be easily penetrable, and I am sure that the darts would stay in.

One thing you can do is drape a towel over a dowel or something, and hang that in front of the openings. I used it when I made a target for pellet rifles, so I think it should work for Nerf.

Special Kitty saves the day again. I knew there was a reason I decided to hold onto a few containers. Now they are useful, and not just the by-product of a pack rat.

Like Watt says, hang some cloth in there. A cross of hanging cloth would optimize dart retention.

Yeah cloth or mesh instead of cardboard.

360 core. I dig it.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.
