Here's an alternate set of internal diagrams and plans for a Tornadobow, credit for the original design goes to Ice Nine, of course. This is my take on it. I should be finishing up my other customs' templates over the next few weeks, and I'll have those with writeups posted up when they're done. (Black+, Sm1, crossbow internals kits, stockless +bow kits, then the bunch of them I'm working on now and throughout the summer.)

The main difference is that this has a pivoting trigger, but it also conserves material a bit with a different catch design. The instructions are printed on the templates diagram.

Probably a stupid question, but how are the square brackets attached to the plunger tube? a very clear glue or screws or what? I can't really tell.

They're not, because they don't need to be. The plunger tube fits into the curves of the shell, which keeps the rectangles from moving up and down, and the grid pattern in the shell keeps it from moving forward and back or rotating.

I'm going to try making a priming handle from polycarbonate, and depending on how that turns out, I'll get that template posted up as well.

You think making the plunger rod similar to a +bow or whatever and sanding out the inside of the stock and making the whole thing have the mechanics of a +bow or crossbow would make this whole priming handle troubles everyone seems to have easier? Didn't ryan try making a priming handle out of poly and it still broke so he made that aluminum one?

MSpaint atrocity, but yeah. Just a smaller square shaped handle than the +bow. Or something similar to your stockless kits.

Also, You know how the bottom of this gun has that circular duct to hold bands? maybe someone could squeeze something similar to the LAB in that spot?

From what I understand, he did what I did with the polycarb-inside-stock-handle. He has one milled out of aluminum now, but that's not exactly practical for most of us. The plunger rod comes out higher than in your diagram, but if you remove the top support for the stock, you could definitely still make it a pullback and avert the whole issue. You'd be sacrificing a bit of comfort, since you still have to watch out for your cheek getting hit by the priming handle, but it's a relatively simple and painless solution.

Ryan built my Tornadobow's priming handle in a similar manner, with a polycarbonate plate slotted into the original priming handle (epoxied instead of bolted). It broke off at the interface between the plate and the handle; I wouldn't be surprised if yours ultimately failed in the same way. We'll see. I am probably going to have someone machine one out of aluminum as a replacement. That may be an unworkable solution for the masses, but homemades of this caliber are out of reach for most Nerfers in any case.

You could just put a really big handle on the priming rod, which sticks out of the top and bottom slots of the stock. However, lot of the appeal of this design (at least for me) is in the auto-return on the priming handle, and I would hate to give up that feature.

I agree and see now. The design is pretty optimal with proper materials and tools. But unfortunately, it may be the only alternative for people with aluminum building supplies, or for anyone who makes the insides a little more mediocre or crappier rather than using the polycarb plates and tubes that you all have.

I was looking for those templates a wile ago and I did not find them, however these templates are still available
