Yeah, so we're not really basing validations on essay submissions. What is this, 2004?

No, actually, I haven't validated anyone yet in april.

I suppose I should add that the current validation queu is 2 months long, which is kinda' our sweet spot. Any shorter and we fail to weed out generation A.D.D., and any longer is a bit excessive.

If you applied prior to 2/20/10 and your account has not yet been validated, than it's been deleted for one reason or another.

If they haven't applied since that date, and they have not recieved a validation email, they can apply again.

If they'd like to avoid their accounts being deleted again there are 2 simple measures they can take to help their chances considerably:

1 - Use a commonly known email client when applying, because if anything looks even the tiniest bit like a spam bot I just delete it.
2 - Only apply once unless you are certain that your previous account has been deleted. How can I check this, you ask? Try logging in. If the account does not exist, you won't be able to.

On a side note, if you'd still like to write an essay and be a source of amusement for the administrative team, then by all means, write away and email me. This is more so just another way to screen potential members, but I really just want to see how many people will actually write essays.

Am I the only one who thinks that requiring an essay for validation is an awesome idea, at least in terms of user quality control? Anyone worthwhile on a forum should be capable of writing a one-page essay with little effort. But hey, I'm no admin.

There was nothing administrative about these essays. It was a punchline-less April fools joke. Actual validations are progressing in the same manner they always have. That is, slowly.

If you have submitted an account for validation prior to March 2, your account has either been validated or deleted. If your account has been validated you will recieve an email notification at the email address you provided for your account. If it has been deleted, you will not.
