Here goes my first write up, ok so I went over my friends house to help him put together a lofted bed. After we had finished putting together the beast(it took awhile) I was looking through his closet because he had a vulcan and I wanted to shoot it(because i hadn't used one since i burnt through 2). that is when i found this:

Now as soon as I got home i thought, "What can I do to make this better?". So I searched around the haven and found no one had done a clip mod like the maverick and other blasters like it had. So I took the challenge and ended up with a very simple easy to do mod. First take a look at the front of the gun, notice the big ring around the rotating barrel? Here is the front view picture with part of the ring i am talking about highlighted. Posted Image
That is what keeps the rotating barrel on for the most part. So open the gun and cut a section of the ring out with your tool of choice. Put the gun back together with everything in it and take a small flat head screwdriver and start prying out pieces. Once you get enough out so you can take the rotating barrel out the mod is done. Here are some pictures of the finished product.

The "clip" detatched from the gun.

I will most likley post a follow up on this showing how my blaster held up after the rods that hold the darts are taken out and a video with a quick demonstration on how the "clip" goes in and out of the gun and how it can still shoot.

If it works, then sure, why not, but from my experience removable "clips" (With the exception of the maverick) are pretty useless.

You are probably going to have to do a rebarrel if you rip out the pegs. The barrels on Tek 6 turrets are much to big for most micro's to have a good fit. If you just rip out the pegs you are going to most likely get worse ranges than stock.

I think he just ripped off the tops, much like snipping the very end of a BBBB, to allow a little better airflow.

I was originally planning on cutting the rods at their bases. But after reading what blue said I am going to just cut the tops off. Hopfully it will increase the range enough so the blaster is usefull because right now with stock streamlines it's getting 5-10 feet.

Re barreling is insanely easy, all you do is rip out the pegs then goop in some PETG. Anything less than rebarreling, spring replacement, and reinforcement isn't gonna do you shit.

Spring replacment done,(Replaced the stock spring with a firefly spring) took alittle while because I didn't understand the catch at first. Now I can't find the little rubber peice the keeps the air flow going straight to the barrel and not seeping out around it. Also, does anyone know of a good place to get PETG near elyria ohio, and a glue to keep it down?

PS. Can't do range tests till i find that rubber piece once I find it I will see how much the spring adds to the range of the gun.
PSS. If I can't find the piece can anyone make a suggestion of what else i can use?

You could try CPVC barrels. PETG is hard to find outside of ordering it online from One Man Clan. CPVC can be found at most hardware stores and is a tight fit on darts, excellent for spring guns.

Bring a dart with you. CPVC is beige, 5/8" in diameter, and the dart should be able to fit in with a quick twist.

Isn't this one of the older Teks? I remember trying to do an old mod on the newer version, and... well, I had to single it at the end.

Whenever I'm bored, I go onto NerfHaven and start reading the closed threads with a last post by VACC.

If you didn't know yet that ''little rubber piece'' is an O-ring, you can most likely buy more at your local hardware store, they would most likely be in an isle with gaskets or pluming fittings.

Good first write up! Could be a little more descriptive, but hey nice job. Griff

I don't see the point of this though. The only thing I could think of that a removable turret would help with is if you had it rear loading, but as it is right now you just load darts in the front, so you wouldn't ever take out the turret when you shoot it.. I guess you can have swappable clips, but it sounds like this gun is a one time thing. Great showing that it is possible though.

I don't understand your logic. What's the difference between a removable Tek 6 "clip" and a removable Maverick "clip" (besides the Maverick being a little cooler)?

Why does everyone think there needs to be this justification behind people doing their mods? He did it because he could, not because he's looking for a Nobel Prize or to rack up 156% more kills at the next war.

It seems like a reliability issue. The Maverick mod makes reloading faster, since you can have multiple turrets, and involves no messing around with the rotation mech at all. Now the turret can be lost much easier, and I'm sure if you ran with it swinging in your hand the turret would fly out, and then you run the risk of the turret breaking on impact.

That is a good point. It's still a mod worth doing, if nothing else just to show how it can be done.
