When:

Saturday, June 5th, 2010 - 10:00 AM - exhaustion, or around 5-6 PM

Where:*

Lake Ellyn Park
645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn, IL
*Location subject to change

Posted Image

What to bring:
-At least one primary
-Darts
-Eye Protection, if you're not wearing any, you don't play
-Lunch and water. There are a few places within driving distance in downtown Glen Ellyn. However it would be much easier to bag a lunch.
-Proper attire. I don't want to see some douche bags showing up in camouflage or I will personally beat you down and tell you to leave. The more colors the better. Dress appropriately.

What not to bring:
SLINGSHOT WEIGHTED DARTS
-Only slug darts, or stock darts will be allowed
-Weapons will only be banned if deemed dangerous by the host(s).
-Kids who are ≤13 years old are not allowed.

Miscellaneous Information:
-Barrel tapping is not allowed.
-If you are being a douchebag I will ask you to leave.
-Please clean up after yourselves, we will be in a public park.
-Melee weapons are allowed and count for blocking darts. They will technically count as shields.
-Please refrain from yelling obscenities, we do not need the attention.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE - Clean up all your shit and help pick up darts.

I don't want to lose the priviledge of nerfing at this location by littering the park with nonbiodegradable foam. Same thing goes with trash. I'm going to bring garbage bags to set up near the staging area. Please be courteous. We have several backup locations if we need to move.

Shield Rules

You'll be limited on the size of your shield depending on what blaster you're wielding. This will be the standard ruling for most gametypes. Here is the breakdown..

Melee = 3 sq/ft (Melee counts as part of shield)

Single shot pistol, ranges < 50' - 2 sq/ft

Anything else, ranges <50' - 1 sq/ft

Blasters shooting over 50' will not be allowed to use a shield.

Shields can be made from whatever, cardboard should be reinforced with duct tape.

Attendees:

Kane (host)
Ice9
Zorn
bunstock
DemonLord
Shorts
Ace

Yeeeah.

Few updates:

I've agreed to let Kane co-host this with me. We're going to be building a bunch of mobstacles for extra cover. We need you guys so bring as much fabric as possible. Old bed sheets, or things of similar nature is what we need. Kane and I will have everything else necessary, but fabric is a bit expensive and I don't feel like buying a bunch. If possible, it would be nice for these people to show up early to help us set up the mobstacles as well. Large mobstacles will definitely compliment Lake Ellyn's park.

There are also a couple new rules regarding shields and the like. If you guys have any nerf-sized balls we're going to be using those for grenades. They will count for destroying shields and also count as a hit. Along with that there will be a new class of shields. People wielding only grenades or very low powered blaster, will be allowed to use any size shield they want. Their sole purpose will be to collect darts for their team. I know it sounds crazy and most people won't want to spend a round picking up darts. I'm not sure how well this idea will work out but we're going to try it regardless.

So if you guys want to make shields, or have something that could be used for a shield, please bring it. We'll have a large variety of hopper HAMPs, and shields seem to be the best way to counter these blasters.

Just posted the war in my facebook group (I know, kind of late), and I told them something that I'd discussed with Ryan before, but for whatever reason he never updated the 1st post.

If you want to show up late, that's fine. You may not get to play until the next round, but it won't throw a monkey wrench into our master plan or anything. Showing up around lunchtime (12:00-->1:00 probably) is a particularly ideal late arrival, because there should be plenty of downtime then to integrate newcomers without slowing down the game.

Alright, final bump. War is in five days. I need to hear from these people..

hummer
bobbo
CaptainYogurt
LiterSize
Utahnerf

And also if anyone else plan on attending, that's not on the attendance list.

We will have mobstacles. If you don't have darts, we'll have plenty you can borrow as well. We will also have plenty of guns for people to borrow, especially HAMPs. Anyone who has extra sheets or fabric that wants to help us set up mobstacles, plan on being there around 9:30.

Also to reiterate what Kane said, we have no problem with people showing up for only part of the day. Worst thing that will happen is you miss a few rounds.

Too much suboptimal particulate in my lungs made this fairly optimal war somewhat less so. The rain died after a while.

Although low turnout today means the original Chano crew will host a 4Chano in the fall probably.

Also, we brought a lot of darts to this war:

For a war in possible flash flood zone during pouring rain, things weren't too bad.
- Got instantly drenched as soon as I got out of my car
- My nightfinder had better accuracy with the stock darts we were using than just about anything else on the field
- My +bow shooting a streamline 70ish feet horizontally, then watching it curve 90 degrees up and flying another 70 ft.
- Nerfed in a flash flood zone on top of hills
- Good people
- Small war
- Only played Carpe Testiculum, but those were good rounds
- Free foam!

Next time, let's have less flooding, but over all fun.

So basically this war was ruined by the weather. It poured at the worst possible moment, the hour before and an hour through the war, so mostly everyone left. Even though we didn't use our glorious cooler of ammo (in fear of ruining every dart), we had a great time with stock ammo for a while. The sub-optimal post-war conference was also very gratifying.

Thanks to everyone who stuck with it through the rain.

This war will be rescheduled sometime far from now, but look out for our "made-in-American" war coming soon.
