Hi All,

Thought I'd show everyone what I did to this shotgun to make it more effective.

First of all I need to say that I loved the 3 shot concept... it was just a damn shame that it didn't work.

And so... I had to brass it out.

I used 9/16 brass as I could not find any 7/32.

To have the brass fit in the existing grooves I had to wrap each one in electrical tape. This took a while.

The seal to the plunger is good but the darts are a little loose in the brass. I am waiting for some petg. When that arrives I'll slide it into the brass.

I took off the buttstock and now it's a good looking shotty.

* I also did Mr Badwrench's internal mods from Nerfhaven - http://nerfhaven.com...mode=linearplus

I believe this helped performance somewhat. Thanks for that Mr Badwrench!

This shotty now shoots 10-12 metres flat, which is much better than the 4 mtrs it did stock.

Enjoy my friends.

Thats a hell of a lot of tape, but it looks nice. Good job. I bet you'll get another couple meters with a tighter barrel. I think PETG is usually a little loose for spring powered guns.

I expect someone will tell you that this doesn't deserve its own thread, but oh well.

Yes, perhaps it would have been better to have this post as a work in progress...

I find the 9/16 brass is just a smidgen too loose for stock darts.

Anyone recommend anything I can put inside to get a nicer fit?

In the meantime I have put some E-Tape (Yes, I love my e-tape) just under the tips of my darts to fatten them up.

This has given me remarkably another 5 metres in ranges.

Beauty of a gun though.

I can say from experience that the best stock dart material is 17/32 brass for streamlines and 1/2 brass for anything, um, not streamline.

Perhaps replacing the E-tape spacers with some cones constructed of Mighty Putty (God Bless the dear departed Beardlord) might help with stability and your tape budget. Unless you happen to live in a tape factory, in which case you're good to go.
Also, since you live in Australia, you know that every living creature is born and bred for the express purpose of killing unwary residents. You'll be using that thing very soon when the spiders invade.

The tape is there to center the barrels, epoxy putty is not going to do an exact job at all. I like this mod a lot, if you ever decide to make it rear loading you can just put the smaller size brass in those stubs you have and it'd be good to go.

EDIT: No way of knowing what size PETG you got, but no way will any bought on the NIC be able to slide into 9/16. Medium wall can be hammered OVER 17/32 though.

Yeah the PETG idea was just me noobing out and not knowing what I was talking about. I have the PETG now and can quite clearly see that it's not gonna be sliding into the 9/16.

Do any of the other brass sizes fit into 9/16?

In regards to earlier comments about e-tape and putty - I used e-tape for centering and also so it acts as a coupler. With some twisting and pulling the brass comes out and I can put something else in if I need too.

The whole spiders invading thing up there ^^^ made me think of the time we shot a spider with a 3b.... The spider was the size of a half-dollar coin and when it got shot one of its legs hit the wall that was 3 feet away. You should try it on a spider for kicks + giggles.

Anywhosywhatsits--I believe that 17/32 fits inside of 9/16, though I'm just basing this off of what I've read here, since no where in this damn town carries brass tubes!

DbC is right, 17/32 Brass fits very snugly in 9/16. No need for any E-tape, just a little super glue around the tips, but you probably don't even need that.
Good mod here, although I think if you're playing with stock ammo you should get some streamlines+longer barrel. You'd improve your ranges by easily 8 or 10 meters.
EDIT: Make sure to cover the hole in the tip of course, though.

This isn't a write-up. It belongs in the Modification/Paint job Thread.
