Good afternoon Nerfhaven. I need some help with my new longshot. I am building a not completely new style of magazine for it. It will be made completely out of PVC and polycarbonate. The inside of the clip will be at its longest part 1 3/4 inches. Here is a template of what it will look like.


The spring i am looking for is very close to the Ls magazine spring.



I am trying to decide to make it gravity loading or bottom spring fed. I am looking for a place to buy these springs or a way to make them. Also if this is the wrong forum i am sorry.

You could just use a constant force spring.
I have used this one before in a magazine. McMaster part #9293K28
It works fine and it isn't so strong it crushes the darts.

How did you manage that? In other words how did you get that spring to work?

For the record I never finished the gun this clip was designed for. There was too many problems I encountered with the design and machining.

I know at Ace they have some really soft springs and you could make a clip like the one the Rapid Fire Rifle uses. I don't know if you've ever opened one, but they have one really soft spring in them.

These was brought up awhile ago in another thread: those toilet paper holder roll things. Maybe they would have a practical use in this. I don't believe that they are that strong so they might be able to serve your purpose. They sell those at the exact same hardware stores that sell the springs Banshee mentioned. You could choose when you get to the store.

EDIT: I meant the springs inside, not the rolls themselves. Sorry for any confusion.

The LS spring is a number of torsion springs in series. I doubt you will find prefabricated springs like that unless you custom order them. However you can just buy a lot of torsion springs and attach the legs together.
