Ok, so my current project kinda relies on a Tek 6 turret. I am in the process of re-barreling it but I ran into some what of a problem:



The turret itself is one peice and the pegs are glued in from the back. The rotation mech is attached right to the barrels and all I have to work with is cpvc which doesnt even come close to fitting.
Has anybody encountered and overcome this problem yet?

Edit: For future refrence, I was wondering if anyone had used cpvc to re-barrel one of these turrets before. I should have been clearer with my question. The answer to the question is to hack the shit out of the turret and hope for the best reassembling the thing.

First of all, the turret is just screwed and glued together.
Second, try either disassembling it or drilling out the barrels.

Un-screw it, and dip in boiling water for 10-20 seconds. Your welcome.

Boiling water definatley does not wok on these. Do you have a dremel? Because its gonna take alot of dremeling to get this thing right.

It's called a screwdriver and a hammer, invest in them or leave. If you have a flathead and a hammer, then hammer out the back of the AR, then pluck off the back by angling the screwdriver to pop it off.

Well I'm glad one person paid attention to the post. The turret itself is one piece and the pegs are glued in from the back. So unless boiling water magically makes the barrels expand enough to fit cpvc, I am forced to thank Airsoftguy777 for confirming my fears.

No problem and for CPVC your probaly going to have to cut down to the turret slip. So i suggest just covering the slip in hotglue. Or i could sell you an already CPVC'd turret for pretty cheap if you have PayPal.

Yeah I'm in the process of cutting all the barrels off, then im just going to attatch the rotation mech to the insides of the new barrels and hope for the best. Thanks for the offer but if this doesnt work I'm going to change to a Tek 10 turret which is the traditional tek turret (round posts, not cross posts).

ya I tried drilling through but I ended up taking a pair of needle nose pliers and ripping the dumb things out and it worked fine but there is still a little bit of crap in the barrel so i dunno

This was the first turret I tried to re barrel and it turned out AWFUL. Airsoftguy is right in that the boiling does not work for these. I tried to do what you stated and just reattach the rotation mech separately after I re barreled the turret, but I got my spacing slightly off. Never worked the same again, but if you make proper cuts and measurements your idea should work in theory.

All i did was cut down to the rotation mech and leave th little slivers of plastic that hold the slip clutch then I glued the shit out of it. So you can no longer rotate it by hand but thats not that big of a deal.

Yeah, I noticed those tabs, right after I cut throught them last night. Thankfully it's not gong back in the tek 6
so I dont have to be too picky about the rotation. At least its rear loading now, which is honestly the only reason I'm still working on it.

May I ask what this will be going on?

The turret is for a 4B, I'm going to post pics when its done.

There's no reason not to just drill this out to 9/16 with a spade bit, add petg, and make it rear loading.

For future reference.

First, hammer out the pegs themsels with a skinny Phillips head screwdriver. The best way to do remove the disks is to take a flathead screwdriver. Hammer it into the hole, and bend it towards yourself. You'll start to see white stress marks and eventually it'll pop out. Do this x6 and walla.

Not too hard but effective.
