Hi everyone, This is my first post here, as my account has only just been activated. I have been nerfing for a few years, owned some good ( and some bad) blasters.
This is my latest creation.



It started off as a Super Soaker triple shot to which i added a barrel and a female shrader fitting for screwing in air tanks.



I then added a breech



and a stock



I rifled the barrel



And finally built a larger airtank and connecting hose. painted in a base coat of metallic blue.



Ranges are steady at 164 feet @ 55psi. I have pressure tested the tank to 120Psi. The accuracy is amazing, the darts leave the barrel spinning fast and they fly straight. The rifling is one turn in 6 inches.

There is more potential range there, but it would just hurt too damn much at lower ranges if I upped the pressure.

I know water gun conversions have been done, but seriously, who would wanna look down that barrel? and not run?

First off, let's say that it's decent mod.

Even if it will hurt to much, 165' is way overkill already. And the four large bottles is ridiculous. So before you start shooting people and making them run, you will be shot first. Haha, I kid you.

As I said, the tank has been pressure tested to 120Psi. By that I mean, locked in an industrial safety inflation cage, and inflated to 120Psi without showing any signs or evidence of failure.

In use the tanks are wrapped in 5 overlapped layers of high tensile cloth tape, leaving only the bases of the bottles not covered. This is another safety precaution, so I know that if there is an explosion, it is directed away from my body. plus the tank is enclosed in a zipped pack when in use. Where there is danger it has been controlled. the risk is so minimal after all this testing and precautions that it is negligible.

I have to admit, I really like this. BUT, you have to make a hard tank out of PVC or something because those bottles are going to eventually explode on you.

EDIT: Ok..but if you make it a hard tank, you could throw it in a backpack and run around with it.

How did you make the rifled barrel? Did you stick two nails into a broom handle and pull it down the pvc while twisting it or something?

People seem to get pretty bent out of shape about the whole soda bottle deal. And I know that people are jus concerned about peoples' safety, which, don't get me wrong, is a perfectly valid thng to be upset about. However, one must take into account first of all, how thin and light the plastic is on a soda bottle. I highly doubt that a tank rupture at ~100 psi would break through a halfway decent backpack. As a further safety measure, all my tanks are embedded LOOSELY (don't eat me bob ) in old denim. In conclusion, yes, these are waiting to fail, but if precautions are taken, the failure won't be nearly as catostrophic as people are making it out to be.

At some point I'll be making a video of failure testing with soda bottle in a completely safe and controlled environment for those that still don't believe me.

OP: Looks cool, but do all those tanks empty on one shot. If so, that's an unbelievably inefficient use of energy. Maybe go for semi auto?

Those tanks are just feeder tanks for the existing firing chamber on the water gun itself. I have reduced the volume of the firing chamber to 270mL, I get 20 full power shots from those tanks. I take a shot, and release the trigger, the firing chamber brings itself back up to pressure. The air feed tube has enough of a restriction that even if I hold the trigger open constantly, it takes a while to empty. however it only takes a moment to pressurise the firing chamber. I generally breech load manually, there are ammo holders on the stock as well.

As for the soda bottle thing, I went through a whole lot of them ( popping them in the inflation cage) before I found these 4 that were suitable. So there has been testing and a series of steps to ensure safety.

It seems you have safety issues down pat. The soda bottles are only a problem when some 10 year old slaps a soda bottle on a homemade.

The next logical step from where you are now would be to increase the rof by using a turret or RSCB. I'd lean towards the RSCB because you can afford to lose some range to dead space.

I was toying with the idea of buying a z-breech and using a stefan converted raider drum mag.

That is a very creative piece, I like it. Like Bob, I am very curious about the rifling thing you got going on. Soda bottles are already meant for some pressure already, and are NOT hard/brittle... If you throw some pvc on the ground, it will shatter. Soda bottles will just bend, and I'd imagine that this property makes it so that it doesn't shattter, but instead bursts under too much pressure.

How did you rifle the barrel?

Cheers for all the positive comments, it does look pretty mean. The stock is from a buzzbee rapid fire rifle. I killed it trying to make it shoot further than 15 feet, so I scavenged the stock for the Persuader.

Its basically a piece of wooden dowell with a slot cut in it, and a piece of shaped coathanger wire hotglued to it.
The hanger wire is charpened at the points so it creates the grooves of the rifling.

I draw it through my barrels while turning, but after starting the turn you can just draw it straight through as it will continue the turn of the rifling on its own.

I only use rifled barrels on my air guns. the springers tend not to like the drag of the rifling too much.

I've seen this posted on Revolution mmultiple times, and just thought, "Thats a trip to the hospital waiting to happen." Yet this thread has proven me 150% wrong.
I also thought it was one large tank but I didn't know it was... Semi-auto.
This thing is lethal in many ways, and to tell you the truth I'd hate to look down the barrel of it.
Super Soakers are definetly becoming popular...

Thanks for the positive reply, the only reason i use the super soakers is because of the cam-operated spring loaded ball valve. The firing valve is just a normal ball valve, but it has a pre-tension spring and a cam. So you pull the trigger, it pulls back on the cam to a certain point, then the tension spring snaps the ball valve all the way open really, really fast. its just as fast to close to.

Our wars here in Australia pretty much ban the use of anything homemade, although I have found one person with a singled titan that said they'd be willing to have a go.

This is very cool, at first I was a bit concerned about the soda bottles but after seeing how you use them I've changed my mind.
You need to put a hopper clip on that, the ROF would exponentially increase.

Also, the fact you are from Australia makes this 17 times better.
