Ok, I've been wondering this for SO long - How EXACTLY do you have a war when you live nowhere NEAR the east/west coasts? I mean, there is absolutely NO possible way I could take a 5-7 hour drive to one of the big wars, just to have to drive all the way back? I hate Arkansas...

Is this appropriate?... What are you saying? Are you trying to find a war or are you trying to get attention? You should just try to organize one. Find a place and advertise if nobody replies than you can say you tried at least.

Is there a non-rhetorical question in there somewhere, or are you just complaining? Get your friends interested by showing them your nerf guns. The idea that the only way to nerf is to attend a big NIC war is ridiculous. Nerf with your friends. That's the entire point of this hobby.

I guess I was both sub-conciously complaining, and asking a question at the same time. To Red: I'm looking for a war INSIDE the state. To Vacc: I must be an idiot for not thinking to do that. I guess you're right, I CAN Nerf without going to an NIC war, but it'd still be awesome if I could go to one. I might actually go to the Texas Spring Break Nerf-Out, if I'm not trapped inside like I am alot. Scratch that, it would take 6 hours to get there. So much for that idea, I guess?

I think a fair number of people have this problem. Like VACC said, Nerf with your friends. Play indoors, with stock blasters. You can have an absolute blast with 3 or 4 people.

It sounds like an ominous task, but it's worth it. I did it several times last year, and I'm going to do it again this year. Don't get your panties in a knot if you can't make it to any giant NIC events. Big wars are just a small part of Nerfing. Most of the wars I go to have 6-8 people, and they're awesome.

Are these wars you speak of local? I'm thinking of having a local war with 6-10 people during the summer. I'll attempt to get everyone I know into Nerf, but I know I already have at LEAST 3 people that would come.

Are there any colleges or universities in your area? A club at my college hosts indoor nerf battles every Saturday night with attendance ranging from 10 to 30 students and 3 or 4 locals. See if they do something similar and if they allow locals to attend.

May I facepalm? There are at least plenty of wars in the states surrounding you, and even some there in your state sometimes. Directed @ Mag

Do what VACC suggested John, because that's what I did, and now we have a group of around 10 for every war we have in our church.

*Facepalm* Well, I never thought about having a war at a church. According to some people I know, a church is a 'holy place' not meant for wars, but to heck with that. I guess I'll try to host a war at my church. Oh yay, that same friend is aiming a Deploy at my ear.

I started a clan here in Pittsburgh before I knew about the other clan Steel City Nerf. The first few wars sucked, but that was because I was new to the entire idea of hosting and warring. Make sure to read the etiquette thread in the war forum, as it helps you know what to do, and how to do it. We've grown from being 3 guys on a baseball field to having 20+ people show up (between two clans), and monthly wars, rain or shine (or snow, or sleet, or kittens).

Church-Nerfing is pretty cool. We had an indoor war in a church last month and it was pretty intense.

Some suggestions:

Make sure you have plenty of weapons to lend, preferably decently modded. This'll help anyone who comes, yet is on the fence realize what fun it is.

Also, do not go overboard with whatever weapon you use, as they may feel it unfair.

And make sure to make a point of telling them how cheap/easy it is to get/mod their own blasters. I know from experience that many people are lazy and will just want to constantly mooch. While an extra body at a war is nice, having to make darts and blasters for everyone at the war is no fun.
