I saw a thread for a few nerfers in Maine and Massachusetts and many had interest in a war so I figured I would host one.

Rounds: Zombies, team deathmach 3/15, and clipped and pistol rounds (no new breeched LS's that shoot over 60ft)

Banned: Any blaster that shoots well over a hundred feet, titans, plugged bbbb and anything that puts holes through people IE cobra. For the zombies rounds lets try to keep the ranges of the guns used under 60 feet. Also anything black!

Foam melee weapons allowed!

Wear warm clothes it is water front so it is very cold also I recomend hats to save cartilige and gloves to save fingers.

Date: Saturday March 20, 2010 10:00 till everyone is frozen or tired

Location: fort foster Kittery Maine

This forty was built to protect Kittery in world war one and was never fired upon nun the less there are massive bunkers that allow for an excellent nerfing field.

There are two bunkers one that runs along a field that has ladders going up it and allows you to climb on top of it and another that is a large centeral structure with steps and a catwalk like passage in the front or it. Since a picture is worth a tousand words here are a few!

I've been here.. dark as hell inside. I'd recommend to any participants to attach flashlights to their blasters.

I'd also recommend moving the date back. 20 days is a bit short notice. I could probably make it, but I don't know about other nerfers.

Lastly, this is a fucking awesome idea. I'd love to come. The only thing I'm wondering is; are we allowed to be there?

Their are no gaurds or town people charging admission and most people just use the trails in the woods I was their for an hour today and saw one person on the field we will be using. Plus about the date I will move it back if interest is not generated in time.

Uhhh... I not so sure that this location is open for the public, especially for an event such as nerfing. Also, outdoor locations during the winter are cold and wet at best, not mention you have to worry about o-rings shrinking, plastic weakening and stefans breaking. It might be a better idea to host this war elsewhere (if the location doesn't allow it, as it very well may allow such things) and it is defiantly a better idea to do it latter in the year, like late March or early April.

A nerf war isn't something you just decide to do, it takes hours of prep to work out the details like lunch, rides, water, bathrooms, etc. Now, in the winter we have my above mentioned reasons. Two and a halve weeks just simply isn't enough time to organize this and confirm attendies. That being said, I am may very well attend, but only if the date is pushed back a couple of weeks.

You have to A.Get a ride B. Get a gun mabey 2 C. Get some darts D. Get your ass out of bed on the day it happens. In less you intend to ride a rocket to this war you don't need four weeks. If darts our your problem you can buy some off me their now only three things for you to do. Plus would you like to be marked down as a mabey?

To make thing easier, I will adress you points in order of occurance. Yes I have a ride, as i have a car and license, but intended my comment to address other attendies organizing car pooling. The other three I can also take care of easily, but again, others may not in two weeks. I have hosted non-NIC wars in the past, each with well over 15 attendies, so I can say with certainity this isn't enough time to organize this. Also, two weeks is short notice, as you have to account for basically the whole day for nerfing and some of the following for recuperation. I will be a maybe if the date is pushed back.

Edit: I may also be bringing another person, have to confirm with him though.

I have organized several wars in another WWI-era coastal defense battery (Fort Worden in Port Townsend, WA)

Here are some helpful tips in dealing with playing around historical buildings in parks:
1: Learn the park's policies. Fort Foster Rules
2: If you see a park ranger/caretaker, go up and introduce yourself and your group. Those people do NOT like airsoft and paintball groups. Make sure you reassure them you are different, especially if you have lots of homemades.
3: Do not leave any evidence of your group. I suggest sweeping for ammo after every round.
4: Be civil to photographers. Photographers love to go to costal batteries in the off-season to avoid visitors. Since their equipment is usually more expensive and fragile than yours, don't play near them.
5: Glow sticks are excellent for team identification.
6: Treat the location like an indoor war when determining what guns to allow.
7: Bring a broom or something to sweep debris and water out of rooms, especially if it had rained/snowed recently. 2 minutes with a broom = another safe room to play in.

Thanks for the advise, Gunther. I think this may have to get held off until June, because the park's website says they're not open until after memorial day. Personally, I think that's not an all bad thing, because of the weather.

I think I'll also contact the organization in charge of the park, and inform them on what nerfing is, and make sure that it is okay on their premises.

Not open means their is no one their making you pay for enterance you can just duck under the gate they are not preventing people from entering or using the park.

I'm not really liking the sound of that.. sounds kind of like trespassing. These bases are usually kept pretty prim, and people on their premises who are not welcome are not taken lightly. I'd rather have the organization know we'll be there, so that we're allowed there. Plus, if the gates are closed, how are we going to get our cars and gear in? its a bit of a walk from the gate to the parking area/ where we would be nerfing.

As of now, this doesn't sound like too great of an idea, given the closed park and the weather. I'd still like to wait until June. We can always just go to Fenix's wars for the winter time, anyways.

The nerfing area is not far at all from the gates and many people walk on the trails at fort foster all the time without trouble with anyone.

I agree with Wes, we ought to just move this war date back. This would definitely be a great place to nerf but we don't want to go there when the conditions aren't right.

Just like with all Maine wars, I'm a slim-possible. It'll take convincing to get my parents to drive me 3+ hours to a war, but hopefully I might be able to get this one.

I am going to now pick an April date but I would like to have this war because IT CAN'T HAPPEN IN THE SUMMMER their are people all over the place at that time and we would be kicked out. Also the park is not closed I found this on their website

Pedestrian/foot traffic will be allowed from sunrise to sunset from October 1
to April 30 and weekdays in May before Memorial Day and in September after
Labor Day. During these off season times the park is closed to unauthorized
vehicular traffic including motorcycles, snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles.

It means we just have to walk a short bit to the nerfing area and not drive directly into the park not a large problem.

Here is more notice March 20th.

Asking my parents right now, I can't wait to go to this thing. However, my farthest shooting gun is a NF with added spring, removed AR's, and pex barrel. Does anyone know where I could borough a gun?

Now that the date is set out far in advance if people can confirm attendance I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you know how much a plugged (the name escapes me, automatic gun where the magazine moves up as you fire) With a CPVC/PVC/PEX barrel would be?

Edit: I have boy scouts, I might be there depending on the time of day this takes place.

The magstrike? I could mod you one,but it'l only get around 30-40 feet. I'll ask 30 (For the gun) And 15 (For the work.)
So around 45$. I'll plan to be paid in cash at the war, and if you don't show up, I'll just hold on to it until I can pass is over to you,
