Quite a while ago I came across this. Which appears to be a complete copy of Nerf's Nitefinder. SDL also have a clone of the disk shot, Strikefire and Dart Tag blaster. People on OzNerf will know that I had orignaly posted this comparison there, but I thourght I'd share it with Nerfhaven. Its not a complete copy paste job. Its better written and I also have internal pics as well.

Lets start with the packaging. Why? becuase there is alot of stolen graphics and bad engrish.

Nitefinder

Laser Finder

Oddly enough, there are 2 cardboard targets in the packet but only one stand. this stems from the SLD Dart Blaster (disk shot clone) which has 2 cardbord targets and stands.

Now for the darts.

Posted Image

The orange head SDL darts are longer than the Nerf ones. The foam is also lighter.

Posted Image

The heads on the SDL darts are much lighter and dont have the rubber peg that runs into the hole like the Nerf ones. The heads of the SDL darts come off very easy and are pathetic at sticking onto things.

Now for the guns them selves.
Posted Image

They look almost exactly the same and feel exactly the same to use. The Laser finder is much harder to cock than the Nite finder and is much louder, due to it having a better spring. The paintjob on the laser finder is horrible. its scratched, the details are over painted the logo is peeling off and the paint feels a little strange. the battery doors are diffrent too. the Nitefinder has it battery door screwed on, where as the Laser finder has a hatch.

There is a reason why its called the Laser finder

Posted Image

Posted Image

on the right you will see that the Laser finder has an actual laser pointer unlike Nerfs Red LED and lens. Keeping the Laser finder out of the hands of goobers is a must.

And what you've been waiting for. Range tests. Tests where done inside with both guns fired flat at arms length. Aming the 2 guns consistantly is quite easy with the red dots. just point at the same spot on the wall.

As you can see, the laser finder has more power. but did have some trouble with consistancy. It could just have been down to user error though.

Internals of the Laser finder.

Basicaly the same as the Nitefinder. The screws strip very easy. I may have just got a bad one. I have another SDL gun and had no problem with the screws. The trigger spring and screw are all rusted. The air restrictor, like the newest Nitefinders are glued on.

Plunger rod

Posted Image

The top one is a Nitefinder one and bottom is the Laser finder one. The Laser Finder has a longer and much stronger spring.

EDIT: Ignore the double O ring on the Nite finder Plunger rod. It was from a modified Nitefinder I had laying around.

Nice review. Did you add an extra O-ring in on the NF plunger rod? (last picture)

I was wondering the same thing? Did you use the 2 O-rings for the test? Or did you add it later?

Look at the back of the boxes, it looks like the "Aim with Accuracy-Even in the Dark!" was copy and pasted.

On a side note about the range test, I hope the light on the Nitefinder was centered correctly, because it can be moved around.

I might be trippin' balls here, but isn't SDL hasbro owned? The patents for the nitefinders are still in function (as far as I know) so if SDL is a separate company they would've been sued for their asses by now. I mean look, the same style logo's, fonts, images and graphics. Pretty much the same damn shell, except they have a slightly different molding or the light/laser housing.

What? Correct me if I am wrong but I think Roger Explosion aimed "down the sights" not using the "laser".

Yeah, its added. It was just a plunger rod from a broken NF I had lying around.

This is quite a possibility. A lot of companies I have seen (not just nerf related) BUY their products from a factory which can also use the mold for different companies. Hence the tech target, and rebel blaster re- makes. Correct me if I am wrong.

Very nicely written review. Between the real laser, hefty spring and cool green color these seem pretty nice.

Dude that real laser Diode can be used for a lot of hobby uses since the power source is so easy to be obtained and that a switch can be used on the laser as well xD

The cover of the Laser Finder in similar to the Nitefinder. SDL must be owned by hasbro or else none of this would make sense.

Sorry for this noobish question, but does the laser in the Laser Finder work the same way as in the Nitefinder? Also Onyx, I myself was just thinking about doing a diode intergration into a Nitefinder light system for a project but this will be much easier to just pull out of the gun for said science project at school (watch all those loosers with their magnifying glasses and flashlights trying to light a piece of wood). Secondly, compared to a first generation NF spring, relatively how strong is this, and do you think the catch could hold an added party popper spring?
