Hey guys, I just went out to TRU and bought an Airtech 4000. I've played with nerf guns since I was really little, but never really got any wars or anything together.

I'm planning on getting a couple of friends to buy nerf stuff, and we'll get some gaming going on...

Anyway, on topic, I've heard on the net about some kind of modification to the Airtech 4000 that increases range using crayola crayons, but I can't find a site that tells me how to do it.

Can someone lend a hand? I need a bit of a step by step how to, as I've never done this kind of thing before. Pictures would help too.

Thanks in advance! ^_^

Ok you are not using cryola crayons but Markers. I recommend you buy the washable kind. All you have to do is pop off the back end of the markers and remove the insides. Cutt off what would have been the end you write with so that you are left with a tube. Use this to replace the barrels on the gun and good luck.

Replace the barrels with it? How do I do that? What kind of glue do I use?

There is all kinds of sealants that you could use. Hot glue, epoxy, plumber's goop, and there is probably a lot of others. I personally prefer epoxy or goop over hot glue though.

I would not just jam them down the stock because there are pegs in the stock barrels. you could do 3 things...
1= cut off all the barrels and replace with the crayola.
2=drill the stock pegs out with a drill bit the same size as the barrel and then jam the crayola down the stock.
3= open your gun and pull got the whole barrel assembly and single barrel it(i did this it gets about 80 feet, plus looks kick ass.)
pick which one you want to do and I will help you with the mod.

I would do just the same mod to an AT4K as I would do to a AT3K, here is a AT4K mod, this one.

Or here is another AT3K mod, Cxwq's mod, The LaMarios mod.

I like to use hot glue because it dries fast. I should get my AT4K today so I'll tell you how I did the mod to it. I like to also us Cpvc for barrels, but I guess all I can get is Cpvc. I would suggest using petg. But I use Cpvc on all my guns and it works great for my guns.

(edit) Ok I just got done modding it and I have awsome results!!! I used CPVC for barrells and this thing shoots like a dream!!! It's not as accurrate as my 3ks but its gonna be my main arm for a while. :D

Ima go range test it right now.
Ok, 4 pumps level, 64' 65' 65' 70' 72' 75' I'll be nice and give you the average -_- .68 1/2' average, not bad at all. THe wind kinda kept blowin the darts off to the right though so it prolly shoots a little farther.

Mods I did,

1. Plugged the release valve.

2. Gave it new barrels

I don't suggest trying this mod if you are just starting, the barrells don't seem to wanna come off.

Hey Cx, if I get the some pics of this mod to you would you post it on NH? I could right up how I did it and stuff.

Moose out!
