Hi guys, I got into Nerf last February and have really been into it since.
It didn't take me long before I got really interested in the older/vintage/rarer Nerf guns.
I have done a few modifications but have not posted any over here yet.
Seeing how I took some pictures along the way, I decided to do a write-up to contribute a little to the NIC.
This write-up will (hopefully) guide you in making your own Nerf SuperMAXX 1000.

**This idea is not entirely new. Credit goes out to NerfRogue83 for his furyfire write-up and jerm781 for helping me as well as his own write-up.

Things you will need:
1) Nerf Furyfire
2) Nerf Air Tech 2000 internals
3) Your assortment of glue (I used fishin’ glue, plumbers’ goop and hot glue in total)
4) Vinyl tubing, I'm not sure of the sizing I used
5) Rubber washer(s)
6) PETG or barrel material of your choice
7) Dremel
8) Hacksaw
9) E-tape

========================================================================

And let’s begin!

Part 1:

Take out your Furyfire and open her up.
Sorry do not have a pic here. (But you do not really need reference as you will be removing most of the internals).
Remove all internals.

Next, we will be working on the turret.
Cut along here, I used a hacksaw.
** Make sure you do not cut away the 3 prongs.
Posted Image

You should get something like this.
Posted Image

Take out your dremel and widen the holes at the back till it is as big as the inner diameter. (or till your darts can fit)
Posted Image

Once done, it should look like this:
Posted Image

Next, align your turret in place and yes, if you did not already guess this, we are going to make it rear-load!
Take your marker and drop it down 2 of the barrels, the same way Angel did for his Doomsayer.
After that, drill through to make rear-loading holes. (I used a dremel)
My holes are pretty small and not aligned perfectly as I wanted to make it as clean as possible. You can drill bigger holes if you want to.
Posted Image

Get your barrel material and cut 8x3'' of it. I used OMC thick wall PETG.
Once done, paint your turret.
After it has dried, wrap E-tape around your PETG till it fits snug in the turret.
Goop it in.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Next step is to increase your pump stroke.
First, begin to shave done the ridges on your FF pump.
Then widen the orange hole in your turret till your pump can move through freely and smoothly.
Here are pictures for reference:
Posted Image
Posted Image

Now, get your at2k and remove its internals.
Remove goo gauge and re-connect the tank to the pump using vinyl tubing.
Shorten the pump tube, mine is 9.2cm.
Posted Image

Plug your pump.
Posted Image

I also wrapped a round of E-tape underneath the O-ring.
Remember to lube her up!
Posted Image

Cut here and here.

Part 2:

Next will be the paintjob. I chose to do this first because I foresaw problems if I had done it after.
Colours:
1) Turret - Oxford Blue
2) Pump handle + handle grip - Yellow
3) Main gun - Dolphin
4) 'Tank' area - Candy Tone Red
These colours are from Nippon Paint from Singapore, so if you are unable to find them, that's the reason why.
They are also mostly leftovers from other paintjobs I did in the past, and therefore might not be identical to the actual SM1k.
Now, onto the paintjob.
Sand your gun. I used 400grit sandpaper.
Posted Image

Clean/wash gun.
I used a gray base coat.
Posted Image

I do not hand paint my guns as I find that it creates an uneven surface.
I tape it up but this is very time consuming and tedious for me. However I find that this is much cleaner.
Here is part of the process:
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Next, internals:
Gut Furyfire internals to fit 2k tank and pump.
Take your washer and superglue it to the front of the tank.
You will need to cut down parts of the shell to accommodate the tank + washer.
Hot glue your tank in place. Make sure it is as centre as possible.
Only have 1 picture here, so hope you get what I mean:
Posted Image
*DO NOT GLUE PUMP TUBE TO THE INSIDE OF THE FURYFIRE YET (my picture is WRONG do NOT glue the pump tube in!)

Next part, linking the trigger to the firing pin. This was probably the hardest part (for me).
I used a coat hanger wire for this and made the first wire (1) and glued it to the trigger.
However at 5 pumps, the firing pin would be too stiff for the trigger to pull back.
The wire would bend before fully pulling the firing pin and hence I kept losing a lot of air pressure.
I had to therefore 'reinforce' it with another wire (2) to counter-act the force.
I also had to sand down parts near the trigger in order to accommodate the hot glue around the wires.
Posted Image

Glue around end of the firing pin.
A lot of trial and error and fine tuning has to be done here in order to ensure that the firing pin is only released after the turret advances, another difficult part for me.
Now, time to glue everything in place.
Place the Furyfire pump handle to-be into your turret and NOW glue the end of your 2k pump to it.
Place inside pump tube and now glue into your gun.
You need to cut some areas to fit in.
Here is what you should have before you close her up:
Posted Image

And YES! We’re almost done!

Assemble your gun and she should like this!
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

With 5 pumps I get a decent amount of pressure.
I have not officially tested ranges yet, but with 6-7 pumps I’m estimating I should get about 70-75ft with stefans.
My darts fit quite snug in thick wall, so was not the ideal situation. Therefore I test fired with both streamlines and stefans.
Overall I am VERY satisfied with how it turned out, but was a bit disappointed that I could not squeeze more power out of it.
More coverage in my video
Anyway there you have it! Resurrecting an ancient, the Nerf SuperMAXX 1000!

Hope you enjoyed it!

@ice: Longer than it should have.. Haha it had a really poor seal at first and I didn't want to fix it. So I put it aside for like 2months and finally stopped procrastinating.

@rest: Thanks all, going to sleep now (2.20am over here). Will answer questions tomorrow! Night!

Great work. It would be ultra-cool if you cut some PVC and made the back "tank", also. I wish they had blasters comparable to the Sneak Shot.

Doing this as I speak. I have no idea when I got it...my DAD got it some 15 years ago, but that doesn't matter. Anyways, it keeps jerking around all over the place. I try to hold it with a rag...It doesn't look like...much.

I have not seen this gun in person, would there be enough room for a sm3k pump tube?

Nice mod. Could a 3k tank fit inside? If so your ranges should go up.

The yellow balls are also slightly smaller in diameter than the green ones.

Morning guys!

@Hi Yah!: Yep it should, there's actually lots of space, though the main problem is the seal.

@flashflint: Not too sure man, don't have a sm3k pump on me for comparison.

@jerm78: Haha thanks for the help dude.

Rest: Thanks everyone! :D

I got a set of these babies for xmas this year so I was planning this as I had the 2k internals but I lost the pump somewhere, gotta find it. Although I wasn't planning on making it rear loading but I'm considering it since it looks so easy up there.

Great paint job and concept for remaking an old awesome gun.

Is it really necessary to quote his entire post to just say "Cool"?

@ ahtanie, nice job with the gun. You turned a shitty springer into what everyone was hoping for before the gun was released.
