Ok. So i have airsoft as well as Nerf, i was looking at my revolver a while ago, and was looking at how they get a good seal. they had some sort of cone shaped thing on a spring. so what happened was, as the cylander advanced, the thingy pushed down, then when the cylander was ready, it pushed back up. i was thinking someone could make one of these out of rubber or something, and put it to use getting a better seal on you maverick or whatever. heres a picture i made in Google Sketchup of what it would look like:



odviously this is just a quick sketch (if it actually shows up) but you get the idea. there would be a hole through it, and all the sides would be flat, and solid. but sketchup is NOT that user friendly since i started using inventor at school... (mac vs pc compatiblity errors SUCK) but anyway, this would more be if you were , for example, try and make a semi automatic maverick, or whatever suits you with a rotating barrel. but there would be a spring behind it and it would move up and down and you would get a better seal, theoretically.

As wel as the paintball shooting pistol-splat, when loading, the barrel travels forward, a ball fals in and on the back stroke of the prime, the barrel returns and the cone presses into a rubber pad

That's a good picture, and a nice idea.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to apply the maverick. The maverick has something like this, but the maverick has two rotations. The cylinder rotates halfway between each other (that is, it rotates a distance halfway between the barrels) when you pull the trigger, and halfway again when the trigger is released.

The Maverick has a seal that does "sorta" engage when the spring is compressed, however the seal is weak as the gun still has to rotate with a pull of the tigger.. It would make a lot of sense to use the cocking action to also rotate the barrle, but the designers decided that the trigger would rotate the barrel (and only half-at-a-time)

Don't get me wrong, you're idea is good.. Perhaps it could be applied to front of the gun? This would allow more range while cutting down equivalent weight (basically, a 6 barreled gun with one long barrel instead of 6 long barrels).
