Well, after what.. 4-5 months of waiting for validation, I figured I'd post my newly completed Gun Blade.

The closest I've seen to this previously is some kid that hot glued a sword to the bottom of his Nitefire or something.

This was made out of one of my Thunder Fury's and one of the mavs I totalled in the past.
I pretty much just cut holes in it, and then glued all the internal mechanisms together, cut down the handle of the sword and glued it into the hole drilled down the front.
Ignore the parcel tape on the barrel please, it's just to hold it about 1mm to the left so it fires straight.

Yes, I realise this isn't a great write up, but then, it isn't trying to be.

Sword is solid and good for a fight, range hits 30-35 feet flat.

With newly added extra bits!

2 obligatory dangly bits like all gunblades have. these ones hold extra darts.

Having tested it in a miniwar, it's surpringly good for a pissabout because-I-wanted-to thing made out of old broken junk (the swords handle was fairly well shredded beforehand)

Also - working on a gunblade system thats changable between guns... because we like hitting things with swords while we shoot

Thats cool man but here is a great Gunblade: Video : NerfHaven link.

If I am not mistaken should this not go into the modifications thread?

Is the maverick turret still functional because from what it looks like to me you blocked it by the cpvc.

That other Gunblade is pretty spiffy.. though tbh I wouldn't want to get smacked by it. Wooden blade ouch.

and no, the turret cant turn, and I cut a chunk out to fit the sword handle into it.

That turret was pretty nicely screwed up anyway from a previous mod attempt gone wrong.. I'm pretty sure that's actually the remains of my first mavs turret so I didnt have too much idea of what I was doing at the time.

and.. I thought this was the modifications thread?

Ah.. gotcha. Maybe all in all.. but oh well done now.

And I'm currently on my.. 4th mav, 2 I wrecked the turrets on, one I gave to a friend (who subsequently broke it).

And thanks.

How's the seal between the turret and the plunger? You can probably do all sorts of stuff to the seal to make it airtight.

while im not sure too many people here will appreciate it it does hand me an oppertunity to ask:

what is the material that is running up the middle of the thunder fury swords?

how thick is it? how flexible is it? how much will it hurt if you get a cut end of it stuck in you?

... and how Sig-able was my last sentence?

I used my trusty old friend PVC Gutter Cement to fuse the internal turning mechanism and glue the turret to the gun and plunger, so the seal is as good as melty fused plastic can be.

it is draft excluder foam 'tape', normally used to go in door / window frames to plug the gaps and keep out the cold in older houses.

you can buy rolls of it at most home improvement places (Mitre 10 in NZ is where that came from) and it comes in a fair variety of widths, heights and colours.

I love the stuff, it's comfortable, has its own fairly strong backing glue, durable enough and looks and feels good.

that one is a little thick for handles, but for stuff like that, and say, grips (front of an LS or whatever) it's great.

An easier (and faster) way to do this we discovered, was using an LS front gun.

being the gun is already singled, mostly useless on its own anyway, and the top barrel fits the swords rod without much effort.

Drill a couple of holes in the frame, put in a nail so it slots in and can be opened up and BAM gunblade.

We're also working on making one that can fire when hooked onto the LS / Recon, because we can.
